As of 11/13 I am back in VT having completed repairs to friends, family and others in FL and will be taking on projects here in VT again. I am scheduled back in FL for a couple of weeks in February to do some site work for a new build but plan on being in VT until Dec 25. I provide, Carpentry, decks, painting, vinyl siding, window & door replacement, flooring, concrete work & repairs. From new to repair services to renovations. I am a trained Mill & House Carpenter, Graduated from BVT in 1984, after a 2 years active service I returned home to the reserves and began my Construction Career. I have overseen projects up to $100million in value, in 2016 I/we started a new venture of buying and re-habilitating campgrounds in GA & FL. I am now semi-retired and decided to provide quality affordable small construction services. In the very near future I will be providing certified home inspections as soon as testing is completed. If you have a project that needs to be done, give me a call and we can get it done. Please when contacting let me know the scope of work, "type of work as well as 1, room, 2 rooms, etc, typr of room kitchen, bath, closet, etc." this will aid in my preparation to ask pertinent questions as well as limit the back and forth emails and speed up time for us both. If you don’t seal a concrete patio, the surface may crack, fade, or stain. While it’s not strictly necessary to seal a concrete patio, doing so can help protect it, extend its lifespan, and enhance its beauty.

Placing either a layer of mixed-size gravel or a paver base under your crushed concrete driveway is a good idea. The smaller pieces will compress and prevent the larger pieces of concrete from driving into the soil below, helping to avoid sinking over time under the weight of vehicles. For added protection from sinking and weeks, you can also install a heavy-duty weed liner beneath the gravel or paver base. Just be sure to use a permeable material to avoid drainage problems.

Depending on the cost to repair your driveway, it may be more cost effective to tear out and replace it with a new concrete driveway. The cost to repave a driveway ranges between $1,400 and $12,100, including removal of the old concrete. Contact a reputable concrete contractor for advice and an estimate. They may have a good reason for going with repairs or replacement after assessing your driveway. You may also have the option to resurface your driveway or pave over it without taking out the existing one.

Asphalt can get sticky in high temperatures and intense sunlight and is better for cooler or moderate climates, while concrete is more likely to crack in colder climates where water can seep into the slab and freeze. Asphalt requires more maintenance in terms of sealing, it has a slightly shorter lifespan, on average, and it’s a bit more expensive to install. Concrete will last longer with less maintenance, and it offers you more options for customization, including staining and stamped patterns. As such, a concrete driveway adds to home value more than an asphalt driveway in many cases.

If there is standing liquid on your concrete, remove it before attempting any of the above cleaning methods. For small amounts of water, use rags, a bucket, and a mop. For larger areas of liquid, lay down cat litter or baking soda to soak up the water first. If you have extremely large pools of water sitting on your concrete, break out the wet vac and get to work.
