"Joe is a great salesperson. He helped us choose the best door style and color. He offered lots of choices in style and color, so it's easy to find a good fit. His prices were were good, and he offers a great value. My disappointment was in the area of schedule and communication. I don't mind delays since that's to be expected. But in this case it was gaps during the installation that was most troublesome. We have had refacing done previously and understand the process. With two men this was easily a 3 day job, as Joe verified. Given that all contents of the kitchen must be removed, time is a big concern. The start date was a Monday, but was changed to Tuesday at last minute. Tom and assistant arrived Tuesday morning, and began and departed at 3pm. They arrived Wednesday and departed at 430. They didn't come on Thursday which I was told about that morning. They worked all day Friday trying to finish but ran out of hinges. Tom promised he would return Saturday but then never showed. He arrived Tuesday to complete the job. So the kitchen was a mess for seven days for a three day job. I spoke with Joe and it seems the doors weren't delivered on time which impacted the schedule. I can understand that but the work should never have been started if the materials weren't ready. The work they finally completed the same very good, no issues so far. If only the installation had been more professional, this would have been a five star review."

"This job was to remove textured paint from the ceilings in 3 rooms, approx. 750 square feet. The crew showed up promptly, and took time to prep the entire work area. The job was ~3 days' work, including re-painting the ceilings. After completion, I noticed some missed spots, likely due to lighting in the house. The company promptly fixed the issues I pointed out, and I'm satisfied with the results. Would definitely hire again."

"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

"Gui was a delight to work with. He knows his business and provided me with an onsite quote to speed the start of work. I was really grateful to Gui and his team for double checking design elements with me, making corrections when needed, and for staying late to do thorough cleanup. Looking forward to having Gui and his team complete more work for us in the near future."

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing questions, answered by experts

Ensuring longevity involves using high-quality materials, carefully maintaining veneer surfaces, promptly repairing scratches or imperfections, and cleaning using appropriate solutions.

On average, a kitchen remodel costs around $27,000, with a typical price range between $14,700 and $41,400. However, the total cost can vary significantly based on the project's scope, material quality, geographic location, and whether you change the kitchen's layout.

A small-scale remodel can cost between $3,500 and $20,000. This may include painting walls, refacing or refinishing cabinets, upgrading one or two appliances, and installing a new sink and faucet.

A large-scale, high-end remodel that overhauls the entire kitchen by moving walls, changing plumbing and electrical, and installing all new components can cost from $70,000 to $130,000 or more.

Whether to reface or paint comes down to personal preference. Refacing strikes a convenient balance between being more affordable than replacing cabinets and longer-lasting than painting them. Furthermore, it allows homeowners to completely change the aesthetic of their cabinets and still paint them if they choose to. If money was no object, refacing is the better option. However, it’s more expensive and time-consuming than painting. Painting remains an effective way to revamp your cabinets, both in look and longevity, without spending a ton of money.

The vinyl finish on thermofoil cabinets makes them durable and scratch-resistant, especially compared to painted cabinets. However, if they do get deep scratches, it can be challenging to fix, and you may be unable to repair them.

On average, it costs about 30% to 50% less to reface than to replace custom or semi-custom cabinets. However, the most affordable cabinet replacement projects tend to cost about the same amount as the average cabinet refacing project. These are replacement projects that involve pre-made stock cabinet styles rather than custom designs.
