#1: Asked for advice on repair on a cracked screen on a brand-new smartphone that I had just bought from them ($200 for the phone plus $2000/year 2-year contract with Verizon). I had insurance from my credit card to cover the repair cost, and just wanted to know where I might send it for repair -- perhaps at BestBuy itself. (In other words, I was willing to pay BB for the repair, folks; I wasn't asking for a freebie.) But since I had not bought BB's (very high-priced) insurance beforehand, they said they could not help me, so I should just call the manufacturer myself, and good luck! I found it was extraordinary that they could provide zero after-service help on an expensive product that I bought from them. #2: Similar thing happened this month on a PC that I had bought from BB whose one-year warranty had (naturally) just expired. Want help? Then sign up for Geek Service, they said, for $200/year! Eventually, I went through HP Support and found as expected that I needed to order recovery disks. Again, no support -- not even some common sense advice -- from BB, no matter how much you spend. But they are good at running your credit card through the system, naturally. Conclusion: just buy everything from the internet if you can. Too bad, though, I used to like BB.
Description of Work: Not much. Got me in contact with original manufacturer on products that I had bought from them.

I will never buy another thing from them. I bought a computer and the salesperson told me that I had 30 days if there was a problem. There was a problem, and I was in Maine but came back within 30 days, and they tell me that it is only for 15 days. I argued with them and with their headquarters but they were totally unresponsive. Some of their people are really not very nice. You have to read the fine print with them but I didn't read it because I believed the salesperson. They refused to take care of the problem even though it is obvious but they said that they would send it back to HP and it would take three weeks. I am going to send it back and have it taken care of when I take a trip and don't need my computer for three weeks. I was really displeased and I have bought a lot of stuff from them including two big screens TVs and small TVs, DVD players and probably five computers. I thought that they were pretty rude.
Description of Work: I have used Best Buy in Reston for buying a laptop computer.

Equipment purchased is great in quality and price. Sales associate has a lot to be desired. He did not seem to know how to process the order that included the special offer for installation. Took him over 90 minutes to get the order right, or so I thought. Seems he listed the wrong address on the installation order and the Geek Squad went to the wrong place. After talking to them and getting them to come to the right location, after being told to call to reschedule, found out that the sales associate did not sell us the mounts for the Bose speakers. That means another day of working from home for them to come back to finish the installation. Went to the store to get the mounts and express my issues with the sales associate. Management was great in solving the problem and even gave me the mounts for free. That was something that I was not expecting in. I rated them a "C" because of the sales associate and all of the issues but would give the management and customer service an "A+" for handling the problem

I paid $1600 for two laptops, including accessories. Their customer service was very good. They do not work on commission. I have worked with computers for 35 years. I have a lot of specific questions about computers when I go to buy them. They were able to answer my questions. If an individual could not, he saw to it that I got to another individual who could answer my questions. I could have done price wise online. They deserved my purchase because they had knowledgeable and helpful staff. They were professional. I will use them again in the future.
