I went with them because of their knowledge, plus the rebates through their company and the federal rebates that were available. I will use them in the future.

The company has been around since the sixties and I found them in 2003. They always come out and do what they say they are going to do and do not try to rip me off. I would definitely go back to them. I have not had any complaints with their services. I have not been disappointed with their service.

They installed a new heat pump, coil, thermostat and a gas furnace. My experience with them was good. They gave us a good quote and gave us options. There was a rebate on the equipment, so they explained how we needed to hurry up and also helped us with the tax credit. We did not get back to them right away, but when we did they lowered their estimate to even less. They came and had the work completed in a day and cleaned up which I liked because a lot of places don?t clean up after themselves.

Good. They were easy to work with and the installation went smoothly. The workers could have been tidier and more considerate. One worker spilled coffee on my table saw and didn't immediately clean it up - I ended up doing it. No damage was done but I still felt it was disrespectful of my house and property. The "core" service of installing the new A/C was excellent. Richard's also handled submitting the $900 rebate from Carrier, which showed up a few weeks later.

Everything and everyone was professional. The office team was cordial, the pre-installation supervisor was informative and helpful, and the installation team showed up on time. When they departed, the only sign they'd been there was a brand new system.

Work not urgent, and had been anticipated, so after the last service call in April, I had time to get quotes from 3 companies on Angie's List including Richards, with whom we had our service contract. All quotes were high, but the biggest factor for all was that after the $1000 Carrier discount and $1500 Qualified Energy Tax credit, (both yet to be received), the cost of the more expensive new SEER 19 high energy system worked out LESS than replacement with any of the lower SEER systems. We were amazed by the large size of the new Heat Pump outside, but it runs almost noiselessly as does the Fan Coil inside. Work was estimated to take 2 days, but Richard's crews, working inside and out on a beautiful early summer day, finished after one long day. There were no problems, the stairs and carpet to top floor were fully covered with dropcloths, and the guys worked well and efficiently. The system seems to be running very well and, except for a vacation hold, we have not had to adjust the thermostat at all.

Overall, I was extremely pleased with Richard's after an initial impression on the phone that left me disappointed. When I first called to schedule an estimate, the individual on the phone seemed to be more concerned about the dollar amount of competing bids rather than diagnosing my service issue and finding out what could be done to correct the problem. In any event, I still requested a site visit, and I glad that I did. The individual who came to my house, Richard Smith, was not the same person who answered my phone call, and that was a good thing. Richard was extremely impressive and knowledgeable. He took a significant amount of time to talk about the issues, present several practical solutions, and operated in a "low pressure" sales environment. Over the course of the next several weeks, Richard was very responsive to the numerous questions that I had while comparing the services of three potential firms. He would respond promptly to my questions and always provided a thorough answer. In the end, I selected Richard?s due to their reputation, quality of advice, and competitive pricing. Richards was not the lowest bid, but competitive. Additionally, Richard?s provided very detailed answers to some of my more nuanced questions, where the other firms fell short. They really seemed to go the extra step to get me comfortable before engaging in the work, as this is a significant project. The work was scheduled to be done over a two-day period. The crew arrived on-time (both days), worked in a professional manner, kept their work area clean and respected the other areas of the house. The job foreman kept me appraised on the job status throughout the day and was always willing to answer questions that I had about the project.

I called Richards on the first really hot day in May, because my elderly A/C did not work. I did not get a call back (despite leaving a message), but I'm sure they were busy. I called again two days later and a salesman called me the same day. When he arrived, he was very pleasant and explained my options to me in detail. I got another quote (for the same system) and decided to go with Richards, which was less expensive. The earliest I could get an appointment for installation was two weeks later. Not having heard from them since my conversation with the scheduler, I called the day before my appointment to make sure the visit was on. The scheduler was not there, so I left a message asking him to confirm. He did not call me back, but the installation team did appear the next morning. They were at my house from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. The team was quiet and efficient. They worked steadily (with a lunch break) and cleaned up after themselves. The team leader explained everything to me at the end. I was impressed with their professionalism.

The quality of the install went well. It took two trips for them to complete the task. The first person they sent out was a service tech who could not complete the install. The only negative is that they charged us for the service call for the first visit.

Our regular A/C service company had already been out for the Spring Checkup and had a huge list of maintenance/repairs that needed to be done ASAP. Through Angie's List, we found Richard's and had them come out and do a 2nd opinion on our A/C Units. They came out for a $125.00 service charge and gave us a review of our units. In fact, our units were in quite good shape according to Richard's technician. The units did need some freon but there were no huge leaks, dirty coils or possible repair that the 1st company had recommended. I'm VERY impressed by the technician's honesty, the way he educated us about our filters, instructed us on how to keep the coils clean, and even how to wash the dog urine off the units to keep them from rusting. He also replaced the downstairs filter. The technician was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable! We've decided to move our maintenance to Richard's due to their fantastic service!

It went all fine and the work was done within 2 days.

The salesman came within three hours of my request for an estimate. At this point the furnace was dead and it was snowing outside. He gave me a detailed presentation and I opted to replace the ac and hot water heater as well, because I knew they were on their last legs. Carrier was offering a rebate of $1100 which allowed me to purchase a better HVAC unit that I might have otherwise. (Note: The salesman did not suggest I replace the other items. It was my decision entirely.) The installation began the next day. They estimated it would take two days, but there was a great crew here annd they finished in one day. They were meticulous, pleasant and knowlegable, working in a very confined space. We were very pleased.

I thought they were very competitive on price and install was on time and done professionally. Since then I have used them for periodic system checks as well. Technicians are on time, knowledgeable, and offer helpful tips for keeping my system in top shape.

The company gave a rebate of $1100, which Richards sent in for me and I received promptly. They showed up with two crews, and they got the whole job completed in a day. The guys were very polite and they explained everything to me. They even introduced themselves and told me who would be doing what. They worked until dark and they cleaned everything up and left; I am just delighted. Even though they did have to work in the very confined space, there were no nicks or anything anywhere.

When I needed a new heating system, I got an estimate from the company that was servicing our old system, Garneski. They were doing a good job, but I wanted a second estimate so I called up Richards, which had provided service years ago when we lived in Arlington. The Richards estimate was somewhat less expensive and the sales staff was more responsive to our questions. Installation and cleanup went well and the company has been responsive to follow-up questions.

The service and product were excellent. Their price was the lowest of 5 estimates. The delivered everything promised and were very courteous as well.

I had an excellent experience in replacing my furnace/AC system and water heater. Jim Smith, the owner and estimator, spent time in explaining the system and the advantage of upgrading the AC with a Carrier heat pump that provides heat when the temperature is above 35 degrees, thus saving money on gas. The two men who installed the system in two days were excellent--punctual, knowledgeable, explained the use of the programmable thermostat, and left the basement in clean condition. Price was reasonable and competitive with other bids I received.

They are very responsive and respond quickly. They have very fair pricing. The work is quality as is the customer service. They are just a great all around company.

Receptionist couldn't describe what the would do for $200. I tried to find out when I might reach a technician who could explain what they did and eventually she reluctantly said I could try early in the morning. When I called at the recommended time, she explained they weren't always at the office at that time and no one was in. I left a message requesting a call back, but no one called. I called a different company to do the work.

Technician came to our home to inspect heating, then 6 months later, inspect the Air conditioning unit. We purchased a service plan for 1 year. We asked that the technician be someone who has worked with the company for a long time because our home was built in the late 40's. We are very happy with Richard's. They don't try to upsell, they tell us the prices upfront, they have always been punctual, courteous, and will answer all of our questions. We have had the same technician each time, which we also really like.

It's a home owned and operated long standing company in it's area of service. They are very reliable and responsive. The technicians I deal with are top-notch. They are very knowledgeable and explain what is going on to me. Everyone works really well together as a team.

It was a very good experience. The price was great and they were very neat and tidy. It was a very pleasant experience for home contracting.

They call us every six month to set up an appointment. They come out check to make sure everything is all right. It normally takes them under an hour for a visit. I would recommend them to other people.

I called to see if they would evaluate my (broken) A/C system. They charge for the initial visit ($150, plus $30/hour), and would not provide any window of time within which to come to the house - in other words, you have to take an entire day off work in order to meet them because they won't accommodate your schedule. I thought this unreasonable, so I didn't hire them.

EXCELLENT! Due to not having any A/C Richards worked with us to replace the unit ASAP. We were very pleased with the price as we had shopped extensively for the best possible deal. They made reasonable recommendations to add a whole house air filter and a correctly sized unit. The technicians arrived on-time, were extremely clean, worked very hard to install the units as quickly as possible. I would and have recommended them to all friends and family.
