Small jobs welcome

"Angie's List turned up Robin's Cleaning Service as a possible contractor for carpet cleaning. We went with her since she's independent and relatively local (Gretna). She came today, worked hard for over two hours to clean our Master BR and closet, lower staircase and roughly 1/4 of the lower living area, and did a lovely, attentive and thorough job for $225. Very pleasant--does carpets and other cleaning, painting, landscaping, mowing and pressure washing between morning and evening school bus driving for Gretna public schools (all three levels). Just a really sweet lady whom we enjoyed getting to know. If you have odd jobs, give her a chance. Robin Hall, 434-728-0529, is highly recommended! Garage Cleaning Services questions, answered by experts

Yes, garage cabinets are worth it to organize the tools, supplies, equipment, and gear you’ve been storing in the garage. Garage cabinets provide a great way to declutter your space while also preserving your valuables—keeping them free from dust, debris, and various weather elements. Not to mention, garage cabinets also elevate the look of your garage, which can prove beneficial when you’re looking to sell your home.

Sliding garage doors aren’t popular because when they can be inconvenient—they require you to leave your car—if they’re manual. But, if they’re automatic, they’re much more expensive than a conventional tilting door. Some find the sliding door less aesthetically pleasing than a tilting or barn door.

It’s not safe to install a pet door on your garage door. Garage doors that tilt upward can roll up with your dog inside the door without you realizing it, making them dangerous and potentially deadly. Most dog doors also won’t fit on traditional garage doors, as they would need to span the panels, compromising the door’s stability.

It’s best to prevent cold air from entering your garage through the space underneath the garage door. Stop cold air in its tracks by adding or replacing the weatherstripping underneath the door seal. You can also add weatherstripping along the sides and top of the garage door to prevent air leakage, and it’s a relatively easy DIY fix.

There are several reasons garage door cables can come off multiple times. The most common reason is that the springs have too much or too little tension and require adjusting. Other causes include track alignment issues that keep the door from operating correctly or smoothly. A damaged winding drum or obstructions in the cable's way can also cause it to come loose.
