"Walter was extremely accommodating, I came into Utah late in the afternoon to our family cabin which needed roof repair. Walter and his wife drove out to the cabin off of Hwy 89 in Bryce Woodlands. He was quick to access what was the problem areas and fair in price! Luckily Walter was able to fix my problem areas that late afternoon and early evening. Walter explained what needed to be done and it gave me great relief that I did not have extreme issues with the metal roof. Thank you Walter , I am grateful to you and your wife for coming to meet me! Great family owned business! I will be hiring B-Town Construction for any future needs!! Highly recommended!! Thankyou Diana And Family"

"I was skeptical about this company when I found them on Facebook. I started out wanting a quote on siding, but ended up starting with my roof. I will definitely be going back for siding after the roof gets complete. Thank you"

"We had them pressure wash the house. It looks much better. The red dirt of St. George is gone from it. Denver Leavitt, the owner, is professional, honest and good to work with. We would recommend them. Price reasonable."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

While the terms are often used interchangeably, wood shakes and wood shingles have notable differences, primarily in their manufacturing and appearance. Wood shingles are machine-cut on both sides, resulting in a smooth, thin, and uniform product. In contrast, wood shakes are typically hand-split or sawed on only one side, giving them a more textured, natural, and rustic appearance. Due to these manufacturing differences, shakes are generally thicker, heavier, and less uniform than shingles. They are also more expensive. Homeowners seeking a more rustic aesthetic often choose shakes, while those preferring a more uniform look may opt for shingles. Both are installed in an overlapping pattern to create a durable, weather-resistant roof.

If your roof is nearing the 20-year mark in age, you probably should start worrying about the roof’s longevity. If you don’t know the age, it may be time to figure out who installed your roof, so you can estimate the age accurately. You then can make plans to pay for the upcoming roof replacement. You also can learn how to inspect a roof yourself to look for signs of damage that may indicate a need for a replacement.

Yes, because it prevents water damage, deters pests from accessing the roof decking, protects the roof from wind damage, and lengthens the roof's life. Plus, building codes require it.

Roofing felt is the most common type of roof underlayment, likely because it has been around the longest. It’s called roofing felt because it is often made of felt soaked in asphalt. Depending on the type of roofing a home has, roofing felt comes in different thicknesses.

If properly installed and maintained, roofing felt should last between 10 and 25 years.

Underlayment exists under your tile roof. It helps protect your home by acting as a secondary water barrier. Often, when roof tiles fall off, underlayment that's in good condition can temporarily keep water from getting into the home. However, immediate replacement of missing tiles is crucial to avoid additional roof damage.
