"I had a complex project involving existing infrastructure, new construction and reusing as much as possible for sustainability. XYZMaster was the only firm I approached that had the ability to meet these requirements. EJ was super helpful and worked with me to make this happen. I had an excellent experience and would use XYZMaster again!"

"I was looking for someone to handle blueprints and engineering for a home in the Florida Keys. Having built homes before, I’m familiar with the process and already had some sketches with a few changes I wanted to make. I found Evolution Drafting online, and Kristine walked me through everything clearly. Lindsey was assigned to my project after a quick introduction and a follow up she was AMAZING to say the least! The initial drawings were excellent, and any changes I requested were completed within days. Compared to another project that took nearly a year, this was incredibly fast and detailed. My wife and I are very impressed. I highly recommend Evolution Drafting LLC—ask for Lindsey on your project. Truly top shelf!!"

"Adam Allowed me to express my thoughts and ideas. Some of my thoughts and ideas were good and some were not so good after reviewing them with him. He was attentive to what mine and my families life styles are and incorporated them into the design. Adam was creative and practical. Adam understood value engineering. Adam was a problem solver when ever difficult design, engineering or building code issues arose and worked well with the other consultants. Many times during the design process he would come back to me and say i have been thinking about this or that i think i have a better suggestion, which i really appreciated as it made me feel that it wasnâ t just a job but wanted the best he could offer even though the changes would incur extra work for him. Would i use Adam again? Definitely!"

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Cathedral ceilings make a statement in your home, but at the cost of your attic space. Normal attics are wide open, which allows warm air to move around and exit your home. Because of this, cathedral ceilings make your home less energy efficient and put your ceiling at risk of venting issues if you’re not careful. They also reduce your attic storage space, potentially cause an echo, and even make it harder to change a light bulb.

Yes, professionals reinforce the foundation with additional supports or piers to prevent future sinking.

A structural engineer evaluates any structural components, like floors, foundations, walls, and roofs, to ensure they can support the structure. They also consider the soil quality in your area, potentially extreme weather conditions, and proximity to bodies of water and groundwater to ensure your building can withstand any stresses placed on it by the surrounding environment. Structural engineers work on both new and existing buildings.

The depth of any foundation style depends on your climate and how deep the frost line is, as building code requires that the footers of a foundation—which are built into a monolithic slab—sit at least a foot below the frost line. At the southern tip of Florida, for example, a monolithic slab foundation would only need to sit 12 inches under the soil at the widest parts. On some parts of the Canadian border, the frost line is 100 inches, which would mean a minimum of 112 inches, which is prohibitively deep for a monolithic slab.

Accurate measurements, sturdy materials, and seamless integration with other structures.
