Shortly after they came out, the controller was messed up again and the filter was leaking and the pool was cloudy. I was travelling out of the country and was not able to get around to calling them back out. When I finally got around to calling them, I was told that they could not stand by their work after 30 days. They would send somebody out at the normal hourly rate to fix the issues that they could not or did not fix the first time. I would never EVER use these guys again. They do terrible work and do not back it up. Their customer service folks also tend to act like you should be happy that they have taken the time out of their day to answer the phone.
Description of Work: TexSun has done a fair bit of work on my pool. A few years ago the installed a new pump, filter and control system. All have been spotty at best. Last month I had them come out and reprogram the controller and do a filter clean.

I began using TEXSUN for my weekly pool maintenance and minor repairs starting in January 2014. They did fine although I think the price was a little high for the size of pool I have. However, I wanted to go with someone that I wouldn't have trouble reaching if I needed someone, so I chose a chain. I was pleased with the service through the summer of 2014 and then something changed. They quit leaving the notes saying they had been there and what they did. There were times it looked like they hadn't come at all especially through the fall. However, I have two huge oak trees so there was a constant stream of leaves falling off and into the yard and pool during that time of year. I did call and request that they please leave the door tags saying they had come so I knew for sure. I was told they ran out of tags, but they had ordered more. It is now May 2015 and since last Fall, I have seen exactly TWO tags left. I don't trust that I actually received weekly service since Fall 2014. I have received email requests to order minor parts for the pump or Polaris with a price quoted far more than what the item actually costs. For example, they wanted to order a new bag for the vacuum for $59...they cost less than $17 on Amazon. I am certain that this past week, they did not come at all. My pool and spa have green walls, cloudy water and all kinds of junk floating in it. This was NOT one of the extra rainy weeks, so it has nothing to do with that. Service day is Wednesday, on Saturday morning is when I noticed the condition of the pool ( It's been a busy week!). Anyway, I took pictures and sent them to Mary at Texsun and asked her to refund my May charge and cancel my service immediately.

Due to the logistics of the job (i.e. working with our computers) it was obviously necessary that I be home. I am off work every other Friday so the appointment was made 4 days in advance for the Friday that I was off work. However, the afternoon before the appointment, the office staff called and left a voice message stating that they were declining the appointment due to the and quot;complexityand quot; of the work. This of course set us back at least 2 weeks in getting the work done since I'm off every other Friday. Obviously, they should have declined the appointment the same day or at a minimum the day after we made the appointment so that we could make other arrangements. I would not recommend doing business with this company as they are obviously do not conduct their business in a professional manner.
Description of Work: We made an appointment for a service technician to come and service our pool equipment and troubleshoot the automation / computer software components. It was clearly explained what needed to be done and the office staff said they were well qualified to perform this service and accepted the appointment.

We were considering purchasing an existing home with a pool and wanted to have a pool inspection performed. We contacted Texsun to perform the inspection. We were on a very short timetable and Texsun was extremely accommodating to us even though they already had a full schedule. They were able to send a qualified inspector out the same day to perform the inspection, and provided a written report of the results on the following day. They also answered all my subsequent follow-up questions. The office staff was very friendly and professional and the inspector was qualified. I would definitely use them again and would highly recommend them to others.

Last year I made the mistake of bringing our Polaris pool cleaner to Texsun. Initially the personal attentiveness of the sales staff was great, but I must have reached the star employee the first visit because on subsequent visits the service was less pleasant. It took 3 visits and over $300 (Nearly the price of the same Polaris new online.) to fix our Polaris. I'd suggest finding another place to get your pool cleaner fixed, Texsun is not worth the new Polaris cleaner bag.

We hired TexSun to provide weekly water maintenance and pool cleaning services from June to November at $200/month. We are very disappointed. My wife works from home and she had the opportunity to observe the "crew" at work many times (the "crew" was generally only 1 person). About half the time my wife observed the worker(s) they did very little actual work. Sometimes they tested the water and sometimes they didn't. Sometimes they brushed the pool and sometimes they didn't. Sometimes they added chemicals but most of the time they didn't. The brushing and water testing are supposed to be done every week...the chemical treatments are done on an as needed basis but if you don't test the water how would you know what chemicals to add. Remember: before we hired their crew to do the work we were doing the work ourselves so we know what the workers should be doing! The "crew" would leave a check list of things that they supposedly did but it rarely matched the actual work performed. Sometimes they added water but most of the time they didn't. However, they always checked off that they had added water. They seldom vacuumed the pool bottom but almost always checked it off as having been done. They always checked off that they had added chemicals but as I stated earlier that was not always the case. A few times they checked off that they had performed a chemical shock treatment...but she did not observe them adding the chemicals nor was there the tell-tale cloudiness in the water that always accompanies such treatments...in other word she knows that it did not happen. Several times (at least 3 times) we called their supervisors and they always told us that someone would be out the next day to redo the maintenance...but they never showed up. On weeks that it rained the crew would not show up at all...but we were still charged. Once we called the supervisor and complained about a rain absence. We were told that they were aware of the problem and that this was standard operating procedure since they had so many clients on their daily schedules. After all, the "crew" would have to work twice as hard the next week, right? The problem with that is we had a mustard algae problem. After I explained that to the supervisor he said that for sure someone would be there the next day because "that is a serious problem". They never showed up though we waited several days and even called back. Of course we had the inevitable mustard algae bloom, and we were stuck doing the treatments and brushing ourselves. I am pretty sure that the crew didn't have to work twice as hard the next week because we did their job! DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE!
Description of Work: This review concerns weekly pool cleaning and water maintenance. Texsun also provides equipment service and maintenance....and they seem to be pretty good at that. I previously submitted a review giving them good marks in those categories.

They do their job. They manage the pool and not just clean it. They maintain the pool and if there is any issue with the filters, motors or anything else, they keep us informed; we don't have to stand up on it. Our pool always looks clean. We had other pool services where they required us to do half of the management ourselves. I would use them in the future.

Over all the field techs are great, as far as customer service, the office will not respond to emails, wont return your calls, and if you put them on the spot they basically do what they can to get you off the phone. I have a real lack of respect for their office staff. Basically no customer respect, and don't do their jobs properly.
Description of Work: We originally bought a pool heater and Jandy salt system from Tex Sun because they had the best price on the equipment. So they came out and installed the equipment, everything was good they hooked up the gas line and went around to turn the gas line on for the heater. Well it had a hole in it so they were going to have to come back to repair the gas line. # days later they came back to replace the gas line, and got that all taken care of and everything was great. SO then we had them come out and do a acid clean on the pool, well the price was good and scheduled everything and then the issues started. The guy they used was an outside contractor to do the work, well it took 3 different times of contacting their office to finally get a definite answer of when the company was going to come out and do the clean. After that, we had asked them about doing the pool maintenance, so they gave me a bid. Out of 6 quotes they were the highest, so I asked them to compete with other companies prices due to the fact that we had spent so much money with them over the last several days. Basically I was told that they were not able to drop there price on the weekly maintenance. So at the end of the acid clean they came out and started doing the water balance on the pool to finalize everything. Tech shows up and pump pressure is to high, so they send a tech out to check it out. Basically there was no DE material in the filter, and they filters were dirty as could be. So he cleaned the filter, and replenished the DE int he filter. After that he came back and finished the balance. The last day of the balance I asked him when they were going to come out and put the salt in, and basically was told that he had asked the service manager about that and was told that it was going to be my responsibility. I then called the main office and asked them why it was my responsibility when I had made the salt system purchase they told me they would be installing the salt. So after 2 days leaving messages and being told I would get a phone call back, I call and find out oh we were just fixing to call you because we need to seel you some more salt for that pool, you got 10 bags but your pool needs 18 bags. Well I go and look at my chart and it basically say I need 10.5 bags for a 20K gallon pool. So i ask why do i need to buy 8 more bags. They said not sure. We will just send out the 10 bags and put that in and then you can go have your water tested after a few days. Well got a call the next morning from the tech saying he would be out to put salt in the pool. Tech hadn't showed up by 4:30 so I called to see what time they thought he might be there, hmmm I will have to check into that and call you back. Well never got a phone call so I called the next day, and was told ah we had some miscommunications and we will have to try and see what we can do and call you back in 10 minutes promise. Well after several hours of no phone calls I called and told them I wanted to speak to the operations manager, was given the run around and told he would call me back. Well he surprised me, he showed up at my house. He listened to me b and complain for 20 or so minutes, said ok I have a tech that is cleaning 2 more pools and he will be by here to put the salt in the pool tonight, and You said you also have a valve leaking and the filter tank is leaking a bit so we have a tech scheduled for tomorrow to come out because we didn't have anyone available today to come out and fix that. Well the guy showed up to put the salt in the pool and was all good, but next day no tech to repair the leaking valve or filter. So I call at around 4:30 and get the same ole song and dance about they will have to check into it and call me back. Never heard anything, so the next morning i get a call from the tech saying he will be out around 3-5 that day to do the repair, and he does show up and after going around and looking at everything he basically says that the valve can not be repaired and the filter tank is pitted and chunks of metal are missing where the gasket goes for the two halve s of the tank to meet.

Inspector did a good job detailing the pool's deficiencies. My problem was the fellow's attitude. I had planned to meet him so I could take notes on the operation of the pool that I was buying with the home. He arrived early and didn't call to say he was there while we waited out front. When I called the service to see why he was late, they told me he was already there. I walked into the back to find him wrapping up his inspection. When I told him that I wanted to watch him run the pool through its paces, he said that's not part of the inspection deal, so too bad for me.

Description of Work: I asked for an estimate on a light that was out. The tech found a problem with the light, and also a leak I didn't know I had. HOWEVER, he never called back with an estimate, I called the company two more times, speaking with a supervisor....still never got a calll-back. The company came every week as promised but they only intermittently vacuumed the pool and filled the pool. When they discovered the water had been shut off due to freezing temperature in Houston, they let the pool drop below a safe level rather than phoning me to see if we could get the water turned back on. They left the pool with debris in the bottom of the pool on regular basis. They were expensive and they were not thorough in their job. They had poor communication with me on problems they encountered. I would not recommend their service to anyone. It is also difficult to get a person live when you call their office and it takes a long time to get a call back. I trusted them with the care of my pool and was deeply disappointed.
Description of Work: I have been using Texsun for 6 months to care for my pool after we moved and while the house was for sale. Once a week they were to balance the chemicals, vacuum the pool, brush the pool, clean the skimmer baskets and fill the pool when needed.

The only negative I had was that I called 2 or 3 times to let them know what kind of motor I had. When they came, they didn't have that type of motor and had to come back several days later. The price was good. They did a good job. This was my first time to use them.

We called Tex Sun and they sent out a service rep to look over out system and suggest changes to simplify it and make it more reliable. The service rep, after consulting with his supervisor, made several suggestions, and was able to complete the work almost immediately. He had another appointment he had to keep, since he thought that the call to our house would be just an estimate. But he came back later in the day, and finished everything up. We were very pleased.

It never happened. They won't call ya back!
Description of Work: Well I never even received a phone call back in order to receive any service. I called over 3 times. 2 of those times someone took my name and number and said I would be called by the end of the day. The 3rd time I called I complained to the person on the phone about my experience and she didn't even apologize, she just put me through to the service man's voicemail. So I explained in my message that I had not been getting return calls, and they STILL did NOT return my call!!!! At no time was I rude or forceful-I just requested a return call because I really wanted my pool heater fixed. So as I search this list for a different company that may actually want to help us, I figured I would make sure that people know my experience with this one.

We kept trying to clean the pool ourselves, but after two weeks without electricity, there was too much algae. We couldn't even see the bottom of the shallow end as we tried to handle it ourselves. TexSun came out and drained the pool, cleaned the walls, and filled it back up. It looked great. We had determined that our filter had some damaged screens, from age, and they repaired those.

Usually I get good service, but it's inconsistent. One week I checked the chemicals the day before they came because it rained a lot. As they were leaving, they said there was no chlorine and that they added LOTS. This didn't seem right, so I took another sample to their store for analysis and it was so high that their computer equipment couldn't measure it (>10 instead of the recommended 1-3). I called and had the store manager call and fax the before/after water analysis but the maintenance folks never called back and never fixed their mistake. Folks at the Texsun store told me in "pool school" that too high chlorine damages the plaster. Usually ok but inconsistent....
