"The provider was able to replace the window for a great price.  However he tried to reuse the old plastic glazing that holds the window pane in against the frame in a couple of places.  This old glazing was cracked.  I had some new plastic glazing and replaced those pieces myself.  The great price made this extra effort worthwhile.

"I contacted the provider about my half moon window that gets the intense west setting sun. Inside the house is the vaulted room that is very hot because of the sun in the later part of the day, also requiring you to wear sunglasses or risk falling in the house because of being blinded from the sun! They were very friendly over the phone and answered all my questions. They came out to measure, and within a week I had my solar screen. Its amazing how much better that room is, cooler, and non-blinding. And the screen even comes with a lifetime warranty!

"I had to install the system and call on line support for help. The instructions were vague. I had a lot of problems with installing the door and window sensors even with online help. The literature that was received also was not helpful. I need an instruction manual!"

"Not so well, he used the same paint he did for the siding on my doors and now the paint on the doors are now peeling and melting away.  There is paint now on the windows and paint is on the doorknob as well.  Also where he put siding there is a big hole around the electrical socket where they cut too much away and also around the lock on one of my doors.  I have emailed him to come and fix the problem and he has not responded."

Some frosted glass sprays can handle the outdoors, but most of them aren't built for it. Sprays made for exterior use will say so clearly on the label. Anything marked “interior use only” can't hold up against rain, UV exposure, or changing temperatures without peeling, fading, or yellowing. If you have bubble wrap lying around the house and you don’t care about the odd look, taping bubble wrap over a window is a very affordable way to insulate it. Another inexpensive option for insulating windows is to add new caulk around the glass. This step quickly cuts down on air drafts for older windows, and a tube of caulk only costs a few dollars. Adding plastic shrink film around the glass is another cost-effective option. You can purchase a kit of plastic film for a few dollars per window.
