Your Pool Guy Pool Service

In Jan 2013, I paid Mr. Garza in full (big mistake) to install a pool heater. For 4 months, Mr. Garza tried to get the pool heater to work but was unable to because it was never connected to a proper power source. Subsequently, I discovered Mr. Garza did not obtain the proper permits from the city prior to beginning the installation. He did not obtain a plumbing permit, required for inspection of the water line, as well as a gas permit, required for inspection of the gas line to be connected to the pool heater. He tried to claim that it was my fault because the city just needed to upgrade the gas meter, but this was not the case. It was incompetence. After MANY months of dealing with this problem, I personally went to the city of SA permits office and found out what permits were required along with hiring a reputable company to inspect/determine what had not been completed on this project. I then had to hire a licensed plumber to obtain the needed permits and have the city come out for inspections. During the dispute with the credit card company, I asked that Mr. Garza provide a return policy statement, but he refused. Mr. Garza's response to the credit card company was to claim he had several other companies come out to my home, but he provided absolutely no written documentation of any findings from another company. Mr. Garza also refused to provide me with an itemized bill for his services and the product. I consider Mr Garza, who seems to be the owner and only employee of Your Pool Guy, to be a very disreputable merchant because Mr. Garza represented himself as an expert but turned out to not know pool heater installation requirements, and then failed to complete the job as promised.

We use Sam for our weekly maintance. We struggled for months with algae and he got the pool cleared up crystal clear. Sam also replaced our cartiridge filter with a sand filter. His suggestion made a big difference in our water quality.

I spend $145 per month for his service. He is wonderful and the best pool guy I’ve ever found. He does great work and his communication is great.

The owner of the company came out exactly when he said he would. Although the fix for my situation was rather simple, he was empathetic to my experiance.

He goes above and beyond other services. He makes sure to test the water level each time, as well as brush and vaccum. Most importantly, he makes sure that he pool has the right amount of chemicals and ensures that everything is right and functioning at the level that they should be.

Sam is great. I plan to keep him on for my regular pool service and system maintenance.

Sam came out twice - once for an initial look - he diagnosed the problem and put a temporary fix in place because he didn't happen to have the parts on his truck. He came back a few days later and made the permanent fix. Everything has been great since. Sam is very polite, does a good job explaining what needs to be done, and provides a very reasonably priced service. We are sold on Sam - we will use him for all our repairs in the future!

They stated that my system is very new and therefore had no experience with 02 ionizer. When I asked for a water analysis, all I got was a simple litmus test and charged me 45 bucks!

Sam is AWESOME! He took our algae pool and turned it into a clear, beautiful pool that we enjoy spending time in. He is very professional and always gets back to us fast. I would highly recommend him.

Came out the next day on time for installation of a Polaris pump motor. Very knowledgeable about pool equipment. The installation was a bit challenging because of the age of the existing motor and the brittleness of the wiring. Suggested that I install a new cable from the box down to the motor. Since it was getting late in the evening he said he could come back the next day with the new wiring and finish the motor installation, which is exactly what he did. Actually tested the new motor for 45 minutes to make sure there were no issues with the installation, which is very unusual. During the time he was testing the motor he cleaned the entire pool because it had become quite dirty over time due to the bad motor. The cleaning service was entirely unexpected and very much appreciated and something he did entirely on his own. I was very happy with the service.

My pool had a frog living in it. It had been untouched for about 2 months. Green, slimy and totally gross. Called the pool guy and came over the next day with an estimate. Needed to drain and scrub the pool. It was beyond chemicals. I had other estimates as well but his was very reasonable and he had been on time. I called and told him to start and he started when he said he would and he finished when he said he would. He also serviced the filters and replaced a broken part inside the filter chamber. He was very nice, respectful and most of all on time and cost effective. I have already recommended him to some friends.

The Pool Guy came out to the house prior to move in day and evaluated it.The pool suffered from several months of neglect and an overabundance of chemicals. He drained the pool, scrubbed it clean and refilled it. Once the pool was all clean, he came out to instruct the family in "Pool School". He was polite, considerate and able to clearly explain the problem, solutions as well as future upkeep. He responded quickly to both texts and phone calls. Thanks to the Pool Guy we spent the afternoon splashing away! Would certainly use for any future pool needs.

My pool intake line clogged after my neighbor's mature live oak vomited the entirety of its foliage into my pool while I was away for a weekend. After blowing a couple of hose bladders and failing to get a drain snake far enough, I admitted defeat. I called Sam Garza based on his reviews. He wasn't able to get to me right away, but we scheduled an appointment for the following week. Unlike any of the other folks whom I had called (who either passed me off to someone else or just never called back), Mr. Garza offered a solution over the phone that I could try in the meantime - if it worked, we'd cancel the appointment. Well, it worked, and we cancelled the appointment. I can't help but be impressed by someone who is willing to jeopardize a little business to help out a potential customer. To be fair, it sounds like half of San Antonio pool owners were facing similar problems, so he probably didn't take much of a hit, but it was good enough to make him my first call if I run into a problem I can't take care of myself.

He simply did a great job at repairing our defective equipment. He gave me the options of purchasing new equipment which would have probably been the best thing to do in the long run. But he didn't pressure me into doing so. And regarding the negative response mentioned recently, I remember speaking with him that week. Yes he did sound to be overbooked. Him not showing when he said is a rare occurrence I would assume. But it goes to show that he is in demand. This was actually unfortunate for me. My wife and I were needing to temporarily be very frugal and limit our spending. So we told Sam that we would try to take care of our pool on our own from half of January through mid-March. Then when I tried to have him start up again on our pool, he was too busy with his "regular" customers. Sam, if you read this, and you think you can begin servicing our pool again, give me a call. I'm still looking for another pool cleaning service.

Sam and his employees were extremely professional, friendly, and always did EXACTLY what they said they would! His customer service was superb - he always answered my calls or returned them within MINUTES. He went above and beyond what was expected as far as getting to a job as quickly as possible and accommodating our needs. He also let us know options when we needed to replace our pump and let us make the best informed decision. Sam is very knowledgable and experienced in this area. And his prices were VERY competitive! Others quoted me thousands more for this job. I am sure we could not have done better and I will always use Your Pool Guy for any future pool needs.

Really disappointed. I was needing to set-up a pool service and I contacted Sam because of his great reviews. He agreed to start Friday which was the next day -- my pool really need a cleaning before the weekend as it was full of leaves. I wasn't going to be at home because of work but I really wanted to walk through things with him. so last minute I was able to takeoff of work so I could meet him on his first visit. Well at around 3 I gave him a call and got his voice message. After a couple of hours I called him back and again his voice message. After that he returned my call and told me he was sorry but he was overbooked and couldn't take the job. Well I lost an afternoon of work and didn't get my pool cleaned for the weekend. Very disappointing especially after what I was expecting from what I've read here from Angie's List. Now maybe Sam's Service is the best thing going but I'll never know. I'm happy for him that he has so much business that he needs to turn down jobs but it sure would be courteous and professional to first don't overcommit, and, in case you make a mistake and do, notify your customer at the earliest to save him any inconvenience..

We had been using a pool service for about 8 months but had been having so many issues. Having been our first time to use a service I wasnt sure if this was just how things went or if perhaps our pol was more difficult than the average. After I could not get a response about a repair that I had called on weeks before and was told it would be done but then the wrong part came in or they are coming tomorrow and no one came etc. I had had enough. I joined Angies list just to get someone else's name. I looked at reviews and called Your Pool Guy pool service. I picked him because all the reviews said that he did what he said he would do and he came out that day and had the problem fixed the next day. It honestly sounded too good to be true after what we had been dealing with. So when I called, Sam answered immediately and said that he would be in the area later that day and he was happy to come by. He did just that, which thrilled me. I told him about our issues and what we were looking for. And at this point our filter had been off for almost a month because we were "waiting on a part". We started service with him the following week. He has only come once but our pool, without exaggeration, looks the ABSOLUTE BEST it ever has after only one visit from Sam Garza. And that is after the pool sat stagnate for as long as it did! So I feel like I hit the ball out of the park on my first try of Angie's list. So Your Pool Guy Pool Service..... A+++ and Angie's List......A+++! Thank you to both!

After returning home from a 10 day vacation, we found the pool and spa pump / filter not working. Our son accidently turned the valve the wrong way and the pool was draining every time the filter came on. We called another company from Angie's List that had great reviews. They were completely booked and unable to help us right away, but they recommended 'Your Pool Guy'. Sam came out the same day and was able to diagnose the problem and order the replacement part. Sam was great! He worked with our schedule and had the pool pump / filter working like new the next day. He was extremely knowledgable and helpful. Sam is now 'our pool guy'! His prices are reasonable and he is quick to respond. He even called a couple of times to check with us to make sure everything was still working properly. We highly recommend Sam and Your Pool Guy services! A+++
