I already had them mounted and set up bu the previous person doing the instillation did not finish the job. I bought this package mainly to have this work finished and wasn't told until Allgood showed up to do the work and the electrician called his boss and the boss decided that the electrician was not to do this due to it being a low voltage item. Was not told before hand and the electrician had to find enough work in order to justify the $200 charge by checking out all the other electrical at my house, doing some minor removal work and changing out the button for the doorbell. The electrician that came out was thorough, well mannered and good but was disappointed that I wasn't told ahead of time that they could not do the work and give me a refund.

Changed out the porch light and installed a timer switch; however the switch is very difficult to program so in effect has to be turned on and off by hand. Not sure if t his is my inability to follow instructions or a defective timer switch. Other items were done well, and the electrician was professional and considerate.
Description of Work: Replace porch light, install yard light, replace defective socket, small amount of re-wiring.

Turned out he even had to come back the next day to correct a problem he found in the service panel (with a neutral connection). He performed this work for no additional charge and it made me feel very confident about him, as I know he could have not mentioned this issue to me and just left it alone. But he chose to "make it right" and I appreciated it. James, thanks for all of your hard work. In the future, I will be requesting that you be sent to my house for any additional electrical work I need!!!!
Description of Work: I needed an electrician to give me an estimate to run a heavy duty line from my backyard to my service panel to support the installation of a small spa. I called ALLGOOD and made an appointment for someone to come by and give me an estimate. Their employee showed up right on time; explained the whole process to me; explained why running the line different ways I proposed would not work or would not comply with codes. I called back the next day to set an appointment for the actual installation--as soon as I had confirmed the date I would be ready for the installation. The employee called the day of the appointment, asking if he could show up a little early. He was at my house about 7 hours. The job required an assistant to be there part of the time (a trench had to be dug in the backyard and a conduit line had to be pulled through the attic) and they worked very hard and very well together. The main guy--James--turned out to be a master electrician--it showed in the quality of his work.

+ -1 moreI initially called to have a circuit breaker replaced in the electrical panel located on the outside of the house. This circuit breaker led to the a/c compressor and the heat from the August sun caused the breaker to trip several times a day. Ron came out the next day and examined the breaker. He quoted me a reasonable price to replace the breaker, but said that I might want to do a little research on the electrical panel manufacturer, Federal Pacific, due to the age of my house (1977), and consider replacing the entire electrical panel. I asked him to explain further and he said that the products manufactured by Federal Pacific during that time period were not known for their safety record and that they don't meet today's code. However, there was no pressure on Ron's part, he said that he would be happy to replace the breaker right away, but that I should do some research on the panel itself to determine that he wasn't trying to sell me something I didn't need. My husband and I did the research that evening and also consulted our inspection report from when we had purchased the house a few years ago. We decided to replace the electrical panel. Ron came out a few days later and did a thorough and professional job. We also were able to use a coupon for a panel swap out that Allgood Electric was offering on Angie's List to save several hundred dollars. We couldn't be happier with Ron and Allgood and plan have them replace the indoor electrical panel in the near future.

I then had two other companies out to give me another opinion and both companies told me that there was nothing wrong with the box. They also said that if there was, it should not cost 1500.00 anyways.

+ -1 moreThey showed up on time and all seemed to go well until I was told that to install the second switch in the dinning room, they would have to cut holes in the wall that would leave the room a little unsightly. I decided to not have it done. Then the lights in the kitchen. On both lights the techinican starting cutting the hole in the wrong place (he wasn't using a stud finder to find the joist). I thought he would fix the two half circles, but he just left them and gave me the name and number of someone that could fix that for me. The outside lights at the front door worked from a switch in the garage and from a switch inside the front door. I just wanted to put a sensor somewhere near the front door to activate them upon entering the drive way. After explaining to me how much more work it would be to try and add a sensor, I was convidced to purchase two new lights with sensors and just had them install them. The lights on the patio work great but I did not expect all of the wiring to be on the surface. They tapp[ed into Although I originallymy existing porch light and rand the conduit around the wall to the back and installed the lights.. I recently had a patio cover installed and the contractor painted the wires the color of the house soe they don't look as bad anymore. I wasn't very pleased with the outcome of this job.

He explained what he found and noted it on the report. The ceiling fan was then installed. All work was covered by the Angie's list coupon and there was no extra charges. The electrician, James, and his apprentice, Ray, were professional and courteous.

Allgood came to my home and repaired two 3 way light switches (that I had incorrectly installed) and fixed my doorbell. They did a good job and finished in less than an hour. I can't remember the exact date of the service call since it was several months ago, but I would definitely use them again!

+ 0 moreI think I overpaid by $25 bucks according to their pricing guideline, which I probably could have used toward something else being installed the day of, but didn't feel the need to push the difference. Overall I was happy with the experience and may have them come back out to do some fans for us as well.
Description of Work: Purchased a big deal for $99.00 which included $200 worth of work, I had them install 2 light fixtures in my kitchen, 1 replacing the exisiting flourescent fixture installed by the builder with a 4 buib track lighting structure, the other was replacing a simple fixture with one that matched the new track lighting. It took about 30 mins to install the new lighting and all I had to do was patch a hole from the old fixture.

He hid them very professionally; you can’t even see the wires are there. He got a helper after we made the deal. He then had to get another helper that could fit through a hole he needed to get through to hide the wires.
Description of Work: We purchased a Big Deal for electrical service. They installed 7 can lights in the kitchen, that I provided. They installed under counter lighting in the kitchen. They fixed the lights in the garage that weren’t working. They put a four way circuit in the hallway so I could turn the lights on with a remote. They also installed 5 ground fault circuit interrupters and a full house surge protector. They also fixed some minor electrical problems we were having.

Did not have the proper tool to drill the hole for the rod, so had to pound it into the soil. The tool was in use by another of the company's electricians. Completed the job in one day. Left me the box he removed with the breaker for installation to serve a hot tub, if I decided to do that in the future. Cleaned up well. Easy to work with and knowledgable.
Description of Work: Replaced main breaker box and whole house surge control. 2 Grounds, and tie to copper water line. Removed an extra small box and the main outdoor breaker supply box in front of the house. This was an Angie's List Big Deal. It saved me about $800 from the normal price which was comparable to bids from other companies. I was very pleased with both the work quality and the price.

+ -1 moreThey came out and inspected some items I asked them to and gave me a quote of $1390. For instance, they quoted me for replacing GFI plugs at $148 per outlet, totalling about $900! This pricing is very outrageous considering you can by the GFI outlets for $10. I had a master electrician come for a second opinion. He reviewed the same work and gave me a quote of about $400! It really left a bad taste in my mouth and I decided to get the Big Deal refunded.

Description of Work: Please do not accept any additional promotions from this company (Allgood Electric). In my opinion they are misrepresenting their services and using Angie’s list as a way to take advantage of unsuspecting customers. I purchased a coupon that was supposed to be valued at $200 worth of electrical services (#449741) on October 3. Among the potential services listed in the ad was “ceiling fan installation”. Between October 3 and 15 I called the number on the coupon numerous times and had to leave a voice message each time – no one returned my call. Yesterday, I registered a complaint through your website about the lack of response. Almost immediately someone call me from Troy Electric and scheduled an appointment for today. A few minutes ago a service technician arrived and looked at the location and the ceiling fan I wanted installed. He went out to his truck and returned with an estimate of just over $600. There was nothing unusual about this job. The ceiling fan was to be installed in the ceiling of our master bath where there is existing wiring for other lights and an exhaust fan. The location is easily accessible from a near-by pull-down stair. The fan is a small Hunter in good condition with all the wiring in-tact. I asked for an “always hot” installation where the fan would be operated by the pull-chain and no light kit was to be installed. I have had other ceiling fans installed since moving to this house in August at a cost of $250. Therefore, I expected some charge above the $200 face value of the coupon. However, this proposal was completely out of bounds. After the last 2 weeks of dealing with this company I believe that they never intended to honor the original coupon and only called me back once I complained to Angie’s list. They responded quickly after my complaint to set an appointment for the next day because I believe they knew I would not accept such an outrageous price.

We discussed 3 potential projects for me and after weighing price, wants and needs I decided on the two that were most important for me. He installed an outlet in my master cabinet to hide all the chargers for my electric items (toothbrush,flosser facial brush). I hated them cluttering up my counter and now they are all hidden away. He also added some outside floodlights. Total cost was over the $200 Big Deal but worth it for me. At my daughter's house he added a plug inside and outside where there was exposed electric wires, he added a GFI for outside use, this also cost more than the $200 but worth it Update--the outside lights keep blowing the bulbs (big expensive halogen bulbs) I contacted Allgood and they never responded. Very disappointed
