(See review under A Plus Fence) He contacted me on Monday 8/5 and asked if he could stop by and give me an estimate on a wrought iron fence. He set the time and said he would arrive between 6:30 and 7:00. Around 7:20, I called to inquire about his status. Instead of coming to my home to provide the estimate, he returned to his house to eat. He said he had just pulled his supper out of the oven and asked if he could stop by another time. We made a second appointment for Thursday, 8/8. He texted that morning, and we agreed to meet at 6:00 pm. He never showed up for the appointment, and I never heard from him again. After Mr. Gonzales was hired and the work started, he told me there was an error in the ordering and we had to install a tiled top. This was the very same type of cabinet top I was removing and seeking to replace. No price change was offered. Although Mr. Gonzales was told upfront to purchase at least middle-grade fixtures for the work, he bought the least expensive faucet and tub fixtures the local Home Depot sold. I had to pay the difference to upgrade to a middle range tub. Additionally, I found Mr. Gonzales and his workers to be careless and messy with their work. When the sheetrock in the bathroom wall was broken and pushed inward by the contractor while the toilet was being removed, Mr. Gonzales simply tiled over the breakage which left a large indentation in the new tiled wall. When it came to painting, this contractor refused to use floor tarps until told to do so by me. He used a tarp I had to supply. Other things to mention include that one of the workers spilled half of a 5-gallon bucket of white interior latex paint in the middle of my living room floor and, afterward, Mr. Gonzales ran out of white paint before the trim in the living was completed. No offer was made to finish the painting. Many of the screws this company used to install the ceiling sheetrock can still be easily seen and someone also spilled a bucket of sheetrock screws in my front yard. I am still getting screws out of my grass. Before the work was started, I had asked Mr. Gonzales if he would reinstall all the fixtures that were removed by him and I was told yes. However, I had to reinstall all wood trim, window blinds, curtains as well as the light fixtures and electrical wall plates. Perhaps most disturbing about this contractor was the fact that a large antique sad iron I used regularly as a front storm door stop disappeared from my front porch while the contract work was being performed. We had used the iron to hold the door early during the remodeling and I had absolutely no other visitors to the rural farm house when I discovered the iron missing the last day of the work. Not worth much, the iron was still a family heirloom. Although Mr. Gonzales appears to be talented in his knowledge of home remodeling, I would not recommend him simply because of his carelessness in his work but also in his selection of people he hires."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/lubbock/g-andg-remodeling-and-construction-reviews-6246431.htm"},"position":3}]}

Wrought iron fencing costs about $3,100, on average, ranging from $470 to $10,000 or more, depending on the type of fencing, the length, and any custom design work. You should also consider additional cost factors, such as metal thickness, labor costs in your location, permits, old fence removal, tree or bush removal, land grading, gates, and columns. Wrought iron fence materials cost around $1,925 to $3,500 per project, or $25 to $35 per linear foot.
Installing a wrought iron railing costs about $2,600 on average, depending on the size and your location. Costs range from $700 to $4,600 for most projects. Typically, wrought iron railings cost about $50 to $120 per linear foot, not including labor. Additional cost factors include the material and component costs and any custom work.

A wrought iron fence is worth it if the material suits your home’s needs and the cost fits within your budget. However, wrought iron is not the best choice if you’re looking for a fence that increases privacy. However, if you want a fence and a security gate that complements your brick or stone home with a classy, timeless, and elegant look, wrought iron fencing is a good option. As far as the longevity of wrought iron fencing compared to other materials, wrought iron wins almost every time.
A high-quality wrought iron fence should last a lifetime or even centuries. However, making your wrought iron last as long as possible will require regular maintenance as the material is susceptible to corrosion and rust. Maintenance involves cleaning the fence with soapy water every six months and applying a new coat of paint yearly. While you’re cleaning your wrought iron fence, scrub away any rust or corrosion to maintain its look and viability.
