We inspect your chimney, see if cleaning is necessary, and if so we clean it, we promise not to leave you a mess. We are Certified Air Duct Cleaning Specialists and we also clean dryer vents. We take pride in our work, and strive to do the best job possible. We accept cash or checks

"Do not use this company!!! A couple of weeks ago, I contacted Cornbread and Sons requesting a chimney sweep after having a chimney fire earlier in the month. We explained the age of our chimney, the fire, etc and they agreed to the sweep. When they arrived, they took 3 cell phone pics (calling that a visual inspection), said they would not complete the agreed upon sweep b/c the chimney was unlined. They charged us $150 for a 10 min visit left!!!! We never asked for or agreed to, a “visual inspection” and had we known in advance that this was their plan, we would have told them not to come. In a google review, they did the exact same thing to a lady named Penny. What a rip-off! A reputable company, Clean as a Whistle just left our home after completing a chimney sweep. Please, please use this company!! Dylan as extremely professional and efficient! Their phone number is: 830-431-2988 You won’t be disappointed."

Using a leaf blower to clean your dryer vent isn't a good idea. Theoretically, the leaf blower should push the lint and debris toward the exterior vent opening, helping it exit. That's usually not what happens, though. 

Instead, the lint can get stuck further in the vent, creating a blockage and making the problem worse. You need a scrubbing tool, such as the rotating brush head on a dryer cleaning kit, to push the lint out of the ductwork.

Dryer vents commonly need to be replaced every one to three years. This will depend on the rate at which you dry loads, how often you clean your vent, and what type of vent you have. For instance, regular care will prolong the life span of most options, while aluminum foil vents may need to be replaced more frequently with or without regular maintenance.

Depending on how much you use it, your dryer should be disinfected about every six to 12 months, especially if you see frequent buildup of lint or evidence of stains from fabric bleeding or ink. 

Other signs you should sanitize your dryer more often are overheating, improper drying, excessive humidity, or if you notice a strange odor when it’s running.

Signs that your dryer is about to catch fire include a burning smell or the dryer and the clothes getting hotter than usual. If this happens, turn the dryer off immediately and call a repair professional. Another less urgent sign is that your clothes are taking longer to dry than normal. If this is the case, check the lint trap, vent, and duct to make sure they are all clean. If they are, you may need to call a pro to find the source of the issue.

Condensation in your dryer can create a dangerous situation. It can cause lint to clog up the venting components of the system. If you have a gas-powered dryer, excessive lint buildup can create the potential for carbon dioxide buildup within your home. Clogged vent systems can also be a severe fire hazard.
