"Mr. Electric of Dallas, sent me a text with a picture of their technician that they were sending out, and they let me know 30 minutes before his arrival so I could run errands and get back in time. After showing the technician the work I needed, he quickly provided a reasonable quote, and said he could begin work if I agreed. So over the next two hours I got outlets installed in 3 locations, and a new dimmer switch in the dining room replacing a damaged one. Great service!"

"I needed to see a ceiling fan installed and the floor to ceiling height was 19.5 feet. Kyle is just awesome. He's very thorough and does what he says he will do. He is VERY straightforward. He helps keep the work area clean. He has no problem with DIY. Old man, asking a bunch of questions. He listened, and has no issue with explaining anything. If there's an adjustment to be made, he will make it right. He's more than happy to come back out at no additional cost .Nice that no additional call, and adjust things as needed. You can't go wrong with Jade electric. THEY ARE my electric repair go to."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Most standard residential water heaters, which are typically around 40 gallons and use 240 volts and between 3,500 and 5,500 watts, require a 30-amp, two-pole circuit breaker. For smaller, point-of-use water heaters using 120 volts and between 1,500 and 3,000 watts, a 30-amp breaker is also often adequate. However, some models may have different needs; units that use more watts than average may require a 40-amp breaker, while smaller units might only need a 20-amp breaker. Newer, tankless, or more energy-efficient models can also require a higher amperage. Having the correct breaker size is crucial for safe and efficient operation, so it's best to consult a licensed electrician to determine the specific needs of your water heater.

The light that your ceiling light gives off will largely depend on the type of light bulb that’s installed in it. If you’re looking to brighten a dark room, LED bulbs are the way to go. LED bulbs will emit the most light while also using less energy than standard bulbs. They can last up to 50,000 hours and will need to be replaced much less often than standard bulbs.

There are a few reasons your lights may be on, but the rest of your electrical outlets and appliances are not working. The first is that while one circuit blew out, the lights may be on another circuit than your other electrical fixtures. Alternatively, your powerless appliances may be plugged into a GFCI outlet that was tripped and needs to be reset. If these issues aren’t responsible for the problem, you may have dead outlets or a wiring issue. Either way, you should contact an electrician to identify and fix the issue.

If you have a tank-type electric water heater, it runs regularly to keep the water at the desired temperature. If you live in a home where you don’t use much hot water, it could seem wasteful to run power to heat water that you’re using infrequently. You could save some power by using a smaller tank, insulating the tank, or lowering the temperature of the water heater.

An outlet can start a fire if it has blown a fuse, or is sparking, overheating, or smells burnt. Prevent electrical fires by unplugging the device connected to the outlet and hiring an electrician to determine and fix the outlet’s issue. If the outlet stays hot or isn't working, you should fix it.
