"This is the 2nd time I used JM Roofing & Siding to repair siding issues installed by another company. Both times Joe came out the next day, explained why it was happening and repaired properly with the assurance what he fixed would not happen again. He is a true professional who takes pride in his work and cares about his customer."

"I loved their work. So professional and people friendly. They even waived my deductible. They also performed some other minor repairs without charging me. The roof was finished in about 4 hours. They were extremely thorough with cleaning up everything. I would definitely recommend them to anyone seeking this type of work. Albert and Cindy were so easy to work with."

Small jobs welcome

"I had a specific size in mind. I obtained a few estimates and found that Vargas Construction LLC was the best option for me. I wanted a carport that was more than just a tin roof and a specific size. Julio gave me material options to consider as well. They got the job done and I am so happy with the results. The carport matches the house just as I wanted. They even added rain gutters :). My only complaint was that during the construction, the workers had the materials scattered in my yard instead of neatly staking in one spot. I will definitely use this company again and would recommend them."

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Composite siding, with proper care, can last 30 years and sometimes more. Because its color has a tendency to fade, you might want to re-paint it every five years or so. Before purchasing composite siding, check the manufacturer’s warranty—you should have a long-term warranty to back up the quality of the product.

Brick and stone are durable, low-maintenance materials that offer excellent insulation, aesthetic appeal, and can increase property value.

Homeowners insurance may cover the cost of siding repair or replacement, but coverage depends on the cause of the damage. Most policies will cover damage from a covered event, such as a storm, wind, hail, fire, natural disaster, or other impact damage. Your policy might pay for the full or partial cost of the repair or replacement. However, damage resulting from age, general wear and tear, or neglect is typically not covered, and you should expect to pay for those repairs out of pocket. It is best to review your specific homeowners insurance policy for full details on what is covered, how to file a claim, and what documentation is required.

Mildew grows into porous wood, making it more difficult to remove than regular dirt (and more destructive). We suggest using a dedicated mildew and mold fungicide to remove mildew, which is found in any local home improvement store. Apply a dose of the fungicide to the siding and leave to work according to the instructions, usually for an hour or two. Then wash it thoroughly away and scrub the spot again. Repeat the process if necessary. If nothing is removing the mildew stains, you should plan on removing those clapboard planks in time, as their damage could cause future problems.

There are several highly durable types of siding that you can build right on top of without removing it, with wood being one of them, provided it's in excellent condition. However, a common reason for siding replacement is to eliminate materials that are in poor condition, making installing new wood siding over old not recommended. Additionally, the cost of adding siding over existing siding can increase costs to between $7 and $13 per square foot.
