"I talked to a representative of The Basement King and he provided me feedback in regard to my issue. My washer had overflowed, and since I had very minor flooding in amount and duration of water. He gave me advice for follow up with information and answers to my questions and did not think I needed to have anyone come out at this point to open up the walls. I appreciate his taking the time to speak to me about a very small issue compared to what he's probably dealt with on many other occasions and I will call him if I need further help with any water damage."

"The basement king was a pleasure to work with. His knowledge is unmatched in the Texas area for sure. I received multiple quotes and talked to multiple companies and he was the best. He's passionate about his work and the manner in which it's done. If he says something, it happens. An added benefit was their cleanliness. Usually a job site of this size and complexity is a mess, but not with the basement kings. 10/10!"

"Quality can be seen after few years. They took four days when they promissed 1 and half days. They sent half the crew i.e. 2 people instead of 4, they changed the crew on third day. I had to call every day to ask what time they are coming and so on. The price was in line withe other contractors. Hopefully their warranty is good since they are in business for a very long time."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, water coming up from the floor should be treated as an emergency. If you're unable to either identify or stop the source of the water on your own, contact an emergency plumber right away. In addition to harming your flooring, standing or pooled water can lead to water-damaged concrete.

It depends on what caused your basement flooding, the extent of the problem, and the risk of the flood continuing. If your flood is coming from a septic system or sewer line, breathing in the sewer gasses can be dangerous, so you should vacate. If the flood occurs from an ongoing natural disaster, relocating to a safe area might be wise. If you just have a plumbing leak or rainwater coming in, you can likely stay in the house if you don’t have electrical lines down there, but make sure you call in professionals to fix the issue immediately.

Permits may be required for major repairs, structural work, or electrical and plumbing restoration after a flood. Check with your local building department to determine permit requirements and associated fees for your flooded basement cleanup project. Obtaining the correct permits helps ensure work is done safely and up to code.

The purpose of crawl space encapsulation is to prevent mold by blocking moisture and reducing humidity. If the vapor barrier is properly installed, it significantly reduces the chance of mold developing within the crawl space. However, mold can sometimes grow behind the encapsulation material, but it will be sealed away from the main area. Additionally, moisture can still condense inside the encapsulated space, so if you notice excess humidity, installing a dehumidifier is recommended to prevent mold and mildew growth.

Typically, waterproofing a basement should last up to 10 years. However, it’s worth noting that with proper maintenance and depending on the waterproofing method and installation quality, you can probably squeeze another decade out of it.
