"We called Blue Sky NM Stucco and I talked with Alvaro Esparza, the owner, about getting a quote. He came out to estimate the job within a couple of days and gave us a fair and reasonable estimate for the work. In doing so, he thoroughly explained each step of what needed to be done and told us exactly how they would make the repairs in each area of the house. He also was very careful about specifying how closely they could color match the new stucco to the existing stucco color.
We accepted the quote and Alvaro had his crew start within a few days. We had a few days of snowy and cold weather which delayed the completion slightly but as soon as the weather would allow, the crew showed up promptly to complete the work. At each step in the process, the work was done in a most careful and professional manner. We have composite decking material all around the outside of our home and I was concerned about having stucco splashed and spilled on the deck material. Alvaro and his crew made sure to cover and tape up every area around the house to protect it from any spills or splashes. We were quite impressed with both the quality of the work as well as the careful way in which it was carried out from beginning to end.
After the work was completed, Alvaro came out and inspected the work personally to make sure we were satisfied with the work and that everything was completed. We are completely happy with the results and especially with the care and craftsmanship that everyone at Blue Sky provided.

Blue Sky Stucco is exactly the kind of contractor that we joined Angie's List to find. They are first rate professionals and will make sure every detail is finished to your satisfaction. We definitely found the right company to do our stucco work and would have them back again to do any other work we may need in the future.

"These guys did a great job for me. Exterior/interior painting, replaced deck railings and installed new see through wiring to enhance the view to the lake. Replaced 1/3 of rotted siding with Hardie. Replaced solid cedar support beams around 4 huge double pane glass windows. Replaced 3 interior doors with 6 pane stained solid wood doors that they stained to match the existing cedar in the house. Replaced all light switches with new toggles. Updated lighting and recessed lights. Love the work they did . Anyone living around the lake knows how hard it is to actually find somebody to do good work. I I am just a part-time residenctbso I gave them a key after speaking with them I never had any second thoughts about it. Job took longer than anticipated but weather and other issues were major players. I wish I had found them years ago. I realize with this great review chances of me ever getting them again maybe slim because they will be so busy with all their new business if anyone is reading these reviews. Thanks guys for a job well done. Robin"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

An exterior paint job typically lasts between 5 and 10 years, though this can range from 3 to 17 years depending on several factors. The longevity is influenced by the quality of the paint and primer, the quality of the application, the local climate, and the type of surface being painted. For example, paint on wood siding may need to be redone every 3 to 7 years, while painted brick can last up to 17 years. Aluminum siding often needs repainting every 5 years.

There are deck restoration products and oil-based wood stains that can help bring back some of the color and shine to your faded Trex decking. However, if your boards are suffering from serious fading due to UV rays or chemical cleaning products, don’t expect miracles. Also, these products are only suitable for use on the older Trex boards, not the capped, second-generation Trex products.

The best paint for an older deck depends on the material and whether or not your deck already has a coat of paint. Generally, if your deck already has paint on it, you should choose the same type of paint when repainting the deck. For example, if an old deck has oil-based paint on it, stick with oil; if your deck has water-based paint, choose water-based paint.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

You’ll want to avoid excessively hot or humid conditions, so it’s best to apply your stain in late spring to early fall. It's also important to watch the weather forecast and aim for days when there isn’t rain expected for at least three days. For new decks, allow the wood to season beforehand for at least four to eight weeks.
