"2 days to remove a large rickety old wooden deck with a beautiful concrete deck with stone surrounding. Quick work, yet beautiful job. I'd hire Foni Atoa with Vicane Construction again. I will also refer friends neighbors and family if they need any concrete work done"

"Repair crew arrived early in the morning. Crew dug 7 holes for piers. One hole required the breaking of concrete on small portion of my driveway. Piers were installed and the crew worked in unison to ratchet up foundation. Holes were filled including the one which required the breaking of concrete. New concrete was poured to repair the driveway. This project required the contractor to go into the neighbor's backyard because I live a zero lot. Contractor was very careful to put everything back as they found. Contractor was very professional."

"James was great. I needed ~550 sq ft of concrete poured to fix a previous contractors work and make my shed pad go from a rhombus >rectangle shape. I was quoted and then not even 24 hours later he came out to start prep work. He was very responsive and answered all of my questions that I had. I’d reach out to them 100% for my next concrete/pavers project.Highly recommend this company you will not disappoint."

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.

Charges correlate with surface size, settlement depth, and access, often yielding significant savings over concrete replacement.

Most houses are expected to settle over time, but foundation sinking of more than a few inches or uneven sinking of more than an inch for every 20 feet is cause for concern. Any significant or uneven sinking should be assessed by a professional to determine the cause and perform any necessary repairs.

There is no real alternative to underpinning, although mudjacking and polyjacking are other repair methods that can add support from underneath your foundation. Rather than placing supportive piers under your structure, these involve pumping a material under your slab to lift a sunken section back into its original position. Polyjacking, in particular, is sometimes a suitable solution for stabilization issues under slab foundations, but underpinning is often accepted as the best and most permanent solution.

Mudjacking is your best bet for leveling concrete on a tighter budget. It’s less expensive than foam or grout mixture. For smaller, surface-level issues, you could also use a self-leveling compound, which creates an even surface over existing concrete—it’s a budget-friendly option suitable for DIY enthusiasts.
