Trident Roofing

Took months

I called Trident in early April to get an estimate on my roof repairs. Trident was scheduled to come out on 4/7 but I couldn't be there. They did come out, gave me their estimates later on the phone, etc. But, I decided to go with another roofer during the same week Trident came out (I got five bids) Then, week of 6/1, I received a call from "Mary" from a number I didn't recognize. Naturally, I let the call roll to vm. No mention of who she represented or why she was calling. I called back and said who I was and I was looking for her and she seemed put off I called. Then she realized who I was and finally mentioned she was with Trident Roofing. She asked if I had decided who I was going to replace my roof. Are you serious? You calle me two months later to follow up? I was nice despite my obvious feelings of poor customer follow up and let her know kindly that we had decided to move on with another company. Rudely, she scoffed and said, "Well, ok, you have a nice day then..." upset that I chose another company in the two months from the inital visit to today. Grow up. And learn how to professionaly address people in vm and on the phone. Don't call people without proper announcement of your company and intention if it's two months after I contacted (and likely don't remember you). These are basic things one knows when doing the job of customer service.

Overall, my experience with Trident was by far the WORST of all the bids I took for my roof. Let me start with a positive. They were very quick to respond to my request for a bid; the first company to do so, in fact. Tom Willi, the owner, called and went over my needs with me. I felt pretty good about everything. Tom said he would be out to take a look, and that I didn't need to be there unless I really wanted to be. Unfortunately, Tom didn't show up when he said he would. But people get busy (especially roofers after a big hail storm!), and I understand that. However, I didn't hear *anything* from Trident for several days... that's not so good. Finally, I get a call from some *other* guy (whom I will not name), who said that Tom was so busy that he asked him to take over on my roof. No problem. I enjoyed talking with Tom, and was really looking forward to working with him, but if he sent this other guy out, I had to assume this guy was just as good. He wasn't. First off, he insisted on me *always* meeting him at my home for his visits. In this economy?! Miss work?! Not good. And only one other roofer that I took a bid from made a similar request. Not even *Tom* demanded that! Personally, I think that's just a BS pressure tactic (it's harder to say "no" to someone's face), and I don't like it. Second problem, during our multiple interactions, this guy *demanded* (not "asked") to see my insurance adjuster's report. More than once. I explained to him that I hadn't given that information to *any* of the other roofers, and that I wasn't giving it to him either, to keep all the bids unbiased and fair (not to mention honest; I left that part out!). He was OPENLY HOSTILE *every* time I said "no" to him. It was so bad, it was almost comical! One other bit of high pressure salesmanship that this person employed was a barrage of phone calls. Over the course of time that I worked with him, I must have gotten more than 20 phone calls, at home, work, and on my cell. Sheesh! On his final call, which I received at work, I informed him that I'd chosen another company. He asked if it was due to price, so in an attempt to be polite I told him yes (in fact, I *did* get a better price, but that wasn't the real reason; *he* was the reason!!). He asked how much better the price was, so I told him the truth. He repeated the figure in his most incredulous voice. Then he repeated it again. Then in a nasty, nasty voice, he said "Well, you get what you pay for!" and immediately hung up on me. Wow. It was the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor, by far. Their bid was mostly competitive, but high pressure tactics were employed throughout, not to mention questionable ethics. If I hadn't taken multiple bids, and if I had been willing to just hand this guy anything and everything that he demanded, I'm sure that the experience would have been fine. But it was what it was. I'll never do business with Trident.

Overall the experience was better than my prior roofing experience - that one was bad. The thing that Trident did that I did not like is that they put TAMCO shingles on when Elk had been quoted. I didn't find out until I looked at the roof and said that it looked different than it did before. That's when the salesman said that they had to use TAMCO instead of Elk shingles, because they couldn't get the Elk in the color I requested. I didn't appreciate the switch-a-roo. They did clean up the site well.

They did the job in a day and a couple of hours. House is 2600 sqr. ft. one story, asphalt shingle roof. Crew worked twelve hours the first day and three the next morning. They were courteous and, as far as I can tell, thorough. They were careful of my vegetable garden along one side of the house--making sure no shingles landed in the plants.

I was very disappointed with Trident because when he came out he was very nice and gave a fair price, but when I tried to have him do the repairs within the week, he could not be reached every time I called. She said he was busy because of the recent hail storm and would call me when he was back in the office. After calling the office 5 times, I remembered I had a card with another number. When I called, he said the job was not big enough for his workers, they had so many hail damage claims to do and it would be about 4 months or so.

Job went very well. Tom is a nice guy, professional and gets the job done. Only problem I had was when they went around with a magnet to pick up nails, they missed hundreds of them. I'm still picking them up with my own magnet.

Overall, I have had a very good experience with them. They showed up on time to do the work. They didn't clean up a lot of the nails on the lawn. They left hundreds of nails behind. Other than that, they did a pretty good job. Their estimate was close to the cost that I paid.

Took a while to receive the shingles, but once arrived the job was completed quickly. Tom Willi the owner was present most of the time to ensure the quality work. Tom is very easy to deal with and did lots of little extras, like adding extra flashing and painting pipes and flashing to blend in with the shingles. I would highly recommend them.

It went very well. We received an estimate shortly after we called, the crew showed up a week or so later, and they managed to replace the entire roof in one day. Everything was cleaned up and hauled off, with only minor damage to a few bushes. We were very pleased with their work and professionalism.

The job was completed promptly and everything went smoothly. Other than packing up my extension cord (which was soon returned!) there was nothing particularly interesting to report. The crew cleaned things up about as well as can be expected. Only complaint is that while removing the old roof, some old shingles fell onto my A/C unit and, as best I can tell, caused some minor cosmetic damage. So, I have not taken this up with the contractor. But, since this expensive unit is less than 1-yr old (and expensive!) it is disappointing to see the scuff marks and scratches so early in its useful life. Perhaps other AL members will take note and take necessary precautions ;-).

Very well, especially since my previous roofer had fired me! The other roofer, Roof Crafters, told me they'd be out on a Tuesday; when they didn't show up, I called them and they promised me they'd be out the next day. They didn't show up at all and so I called on Saturday and asked if they'd come out in the next few weeks or so and was told if I was being sarcastic, I could get another roofer--even though I pointed out that they'd made and broken a commitment to come repair my roof. Trident Roofing came and looked at my roof and fixed my leak--all for $150 less than the estimate from Roof Crafters.

I chose this company for this project because they did some work for a friend of mine and they were very pleased. They were able to finish the work very quickly. I also did not have to wait a long time for an appointment. I was very pleased with the quality of the work and clean up afterward.

They were on time and did a great job. They were friendly and seemed honest and they cleaned up after themselves. I didn't find even one nail lying around when they were done. They also had a nice truck. The price was also great!

It went very well. We had some delays because of rain, but that can't really be avoided, and the job was completed as promised. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful and made sure I was happy.

Trident Roofing provided a quote for me on a new roof: for 25.55 squares, $3700 for a 20 year three tab; plus $500 for a 30-yr three tab; plus $2,100 for impact resistant (class 4) shingles. Trident's prices were competitive and the guy seemed honest. I selected another contractor who was listed as "elite" by the shingle manufacturer I selected, otherwise Trident would have been one of my top choices.

Trident did a wonderful job on our home's roof. They worked very quickly and cleaned up after themselves. They were always on time and very captious around the neighborhood children. The workers were also very friendly.

I would say that Trident roofing did a great job as far as working. There was only one problem and that was because I had to call them back to come and fix a few things. I will not complain though because they came back that very same week and did what needed to be done. I would not have a problem calling them again in the future. They seem to be honest and responsible.

Overall, I was satisfied with the results of my new roof. I was a little concerned when I first saw the finishing results. Some of the shingles were not lying totally flat, but, the one guy explained that was common and they would eventually lay flat over time on their own. So yes, I guess things went good enough to say that I would hire them again.

The men from Trident, did such an amazing job, there is no room for complaints at all. I was very pleased at the outcome of their work and I would gladly hire them again. The pricing was fair and reasonable. I really cannot complain about a single thing.

They did a good job, however they could have done the job quicker. They cleaned up well and overall did a very nice job. They were not on time but otherwise did ok. They were professional, efficient, and the roof had a nice street appeal when they were done.

Trident did a wonderful job on our roof. They sent out their "A" team and did the job all in one day. They laid down blankets to catch any nails that fell and made sure they picked them up before they left. They used forty-year shingles and the roof looks great.
