"Cory Raisdeck responded to the need for repair on some cracked bricks and hard to close doors. He kept the appointment to give quote, sent the quote same day. He purchased needed materials at a reasonable cost, set date and time to do the work, and was on the job at the set time. The work was completed that day to my satisfaction. The site was cleaned up, all tools, etc packed up and no trash left around my home. Grout looks matched, and neat and hard to close doors now close easily. His company offers a variety of home repairs and services."

"Matt with MS was great. They contacted me the same day as requested. He performed the work 2 days later. His quote was very reasonable and he completed the work in one afternoon. The quality of the work was outstanding and he cleaned up all the debris and left the work area cleaner than it was before. I will definitely call MS again if I have any other projects."

"We own a Victorian circa 1909 with original oak floors, two of which were in bad shape. We tried RAK on one of the worst. RAK did a beautiful job and great clean-up. It took a little longer than expected, but probably due to extreme weather the week before. We will definitely use RAK on the other rooms."

"The repair technician arrived at about 11:00 AM and troubleshot the furnace. He found that one of the heating elements was not working, and replaced it, tested it out, and found that all was well."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

A deck doesn’t have to be perfectly level. Many pros even recommend a gentle slope to ensure proper drainage and increase longevity. The ideal gentle slope is about 1/8 to 1/4 inch per foot away from the property, leading water away from the home to prevent pooling and reduce the risk of damage. It also minimizes rot, mold, and other moisture-related problems.

When installing deck boards, screws are generally a better option than nails. Screws offer superior holding strength over time, keeping the boards securely in place. In contrast, nails are more likely to pop out, which can create a tripping hazard. While you can use either, we recommend using 3-inch galvanized deck screws. To minimize the risk of cracking the wood, it's a good practice to drill small pilot holes before driving the screws into the deck joists.

Pressure-treated decking may be worth it if you want a natural, insect- and rot-resistant decking material that will last for decades with proper maintenance. As such, it’s a much better option than untreated pine. Alternative wood decking materials like cedar and redwood tend to be less durable and more expensive. Some homeowners prefer composite decking, which is a low-maintenance alternative to wood but is also more costly.

Yes, Ipe wood is a popular high-end choice for pool decking. It repels water and is naturally slip-resistant. It's not susceptible to mold, mildew, or rot, either, so it lasts longer and is cleaner and more hygienic than other popular decking materials. However, remember that due to its status, it is a very high-cost wood, and you might find that an alternative would serve you just as well for significantly less.

There are several methods for attaching stair stringers to a deck. The best way is to bolt the stringers to the deck joists using three carriage bolts in a triangular pattern. This method offers the sturdiest fit for stairs that won’t budge. Alternatively, attach the stringers to the deck rims using lag bolts or to the posts using adjustable slope hangers.
