Small jobs welcome

"Hands down the best painting I ve had done by a company. Not only was Mallard Point priced better than every single competitor, the work was impeccable. I have absolutely zero complaints and would recommend them to anyone who needs painting done. They painted two bathrooms and a nursery for me, not one blemish, stray paint spot, or overspray. 10/10"

"I should give this guy a bad review just so everyone will leave him alone so we can have him all to ourselves, but I can't. Tuck's work is so incredible and is very reliable on getting our lawn work done in a timely manner and I never have to track him down. I also hired him to remove a massive amount of brush we had growing behind our fence. He also did some tree trimming for us as well. I'm also working on some other projects that will require his expertise. There is no way you can go wrong with Tuck's Lawn & Pool Care. The most responsible hard working lawn care service we have ever had. Thank you Tuck!"

"Jeremiah and his crew did an excellent job with my kitchen remodel. They put in new countertops, repaired my kitchen ceiling (which had a large crack), installed new light fixture/LED recessed lighting/ceiling fans, replaced range hood, new tile backsplash, took my portable dishwasher & installed it (built-in), perfectly cut & refit kitchen drawer/cabinet door b/c of dishwasher. Everyone was very nice, mannerly & professional to work with. They cleaned up & neatly stacked their work supplies out of the way every afternoon. I highly recommend UCR and would use them again! This kitchen renovation couldn't have been a more enjoyable experience. Their pricing was also very reasonable too."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, snow should be removed from a deck to protect it from damage caused by moisture and heavy loads. Shovel the snow off of your deck regularly once it is more than four inches deep. Avoid using salt, which can damage your deck.

When building a deck, #2 grade lumber is a go-to for several reasons. It’s strong, budget-friendly, and works well for most framing and decking needs. But upgrading to #1 or Appearance Grade can give your deck that extra visual edge if you're after a cleaner, more polished look for high-visibility spots.

No, you don’t need a permit to repair and replace a few boards on an existing deck. However, if you’re making structural changes to the deck or tearing down the old one and building a new one, you will likely need a permit. Check with your local municipality for the regulations and rules in your area, or ask a local contractor who builds decks for advice.

Yes, deck footings typically require an inspection before laying down concrete. While not all local building codes require footing inspection, proper placement ensures a safe and structurally sound deck. An inspector will verify that the deck can adequately hold what you put on top of it., and that the footings have been dug to the correct dimensions.

Staining and sealing the underside of a deck creates a moisture barrier but traps water in the boards, quickly leading to rot. No matter how well you seal the above deck, water still gets through via nails and screw heads on the surface. Allow this water to flow naturally under the deck, where it is routed through the drainage system.
