"This contractor did not follow some of the basic framing methods-did not place 2 x 6 framing on 16 inch centers, stopped the step on one side of deck 16 inches short, the other end he stopped 3 inches short, did not edge the flooring around the pool evenly (part of the flooring was crammed into the pool and part was an inch off. He started building the steps off the other side of the deck and did not place them where he was shown by my husband. At this time, we decided to let him go. He added hours and over charged for the materials he picked up. Before beginning the job he gave us a materials list of what he needed, our local home improvement store delivered the lumber. He claimed to have picked up an extra 20- 12 Ft. by 5/4 inch decking boards and 4 2x6 x 12, which he charged $224. On a good note he did not take long lunch breaks. Overall I would not hire him unless I had someone to watch over him and make sure he did what he is hired to do."
