. Jay at Positive Energy called three days later and installed the following week. Arrived at scheduled time. Did a nice neat installation. At the time I had not yet purchased the generator. I purchased the generator later that week. When I hooked everything up to test the system. I thought that I had a problem. Jay came back and hooked up the generator and everything worked the way it was supposed to. My mistake when I first tested it. No problem for Jay. Would recommend him to anyone.

They were very good about working around me weird schedule, and very professional. HE came and walked through the house with me so I could explain what I wanted, and on the day the work was performed they were they right on time and worked steadily until the job was done. They cleaned up after themselves. It was a very good experience, and they will be my go-to electricians from here onwards.

First time I called, the phone was answered...no voice mail or message. I liked that. We agreed on a date and time and they came as promised. Checked out the outlet and discovered the problem (it was piggybacked to another outlet in the garage and the wire was super short and stretched and broke). They fixed it. Apparently, it was arcing in the wall and it could have set my house on fire! Yikes! Will never put off doing electrical work again! Asked about estimates for installing closet lights and was given pricing right then and there. All in all, very good experience. Will use again.

Jay was very prompt in responding to my call. He scheduled a visit wirthin a few days after returning my call. He identified the cause of the problem I was having with my electrical service (fortunately for me it was minor). While here he also replaced a faulty outlet and repaired some issues involving the electrical lines which run from the house to an outdoor pool filter. I found Jay to be very proffesional, prompt, and fair with his pricing. I would use him again in the future.

Jay contacted me within a day of my purchasing the coupon, and was extremely patient with my delay in having the work done. He followed through on a couple of occasions to ask if I was ready. (I wasn't.) When I finally contacted him to say I was all set, he got back to me and we set the appointment. They were in and out of the house in a jiffy and did a fine job. I told Jay that I planned to sell my home, and he pointed out that my smoke detectors would need to be replaced. I appreciated the information, and the fact that he was pro-active without being pushy. Originally scheduled appointment cancelled for another job he needed to attend to. The electrical outlet was installed OK. The phone line was a problem as it took quite a while. We tried the line as soon as he left, and it did not work. I checked the wiring and found that when he tacked the line to the wall he actually cut the wire with the tack. I had to fix it myself.

They caame on time, got right into it (correcting some wiring work I had messed up) and did everything we asked.

Jay was very professional and right on time for his appointment. He was able to install the transfer switch inside a finished basement with no damage to the drywall. He was able to finish the work in a couple of hours and everything was tested to be ok.

I bought an Angie's list special offer for Positive Energy Electric (Jay Laury) to provide and install a generator breakout box. Jay called me promptly (the next day) to schedule the installation (only about a week later). He and his helper, Josh, showed up exactly when promised, scoped out the job quickly, and got to work. They completed the installation efficiently and professionally. The box was placed neatly alongside my main breaker panel, and the exterior connection box was located exactly where I wanted it. At my request, he upgraded me from the purchased 6-breaker panel to a 10-breaker panel (an extra $150), which his email had mentioned was available. It was well worth it! Jay walked me through the panel's operation, and we fired up the generator, connected it, and tested all 10 circuits. Everything worked just as designed. From start to finish, the whole process took only about two hours. I was extremely pleased with the service and would not hesitate to recommend him to a friend or acquaintance, or to ask him back to do other electrical work. And as far as cost goes, I paid $50 less than a friend who also had an identical 10-breaker panel installed within the last 3 months, so I consider Jay's price as very competitive and reasonable. I am a happy camper!

Tripped a circuit breaker, and smoke was pouring out of the panel. Called Jay at 7:45a in the morning, and he was there by 8:30a. Luckily, it was a bad breaker and some loose wires. He showed up when he said he would (to the minute), and quickly fixed the issue.

Jay contacted me a few days after the end of the big deal; this was quicker than I had expected but we had several small electrical chores for him to do. He was punctual, professional and personable. He stayed longer than the two hour deal and we were reasonably charged for his additional time. He suppled the parts we needed as per our first phone contact. Because one of the bulbs broke during installation, he ordered the part for us and arranged to have it sent directly to us. When the bulb arrived it was the wrong size and after emailing him with this info he said he would order a whole new light as that might be the only way to obtain this special bulb. After about a week or so, Jay hand delivered a new bulb and installed it for us. We were very pleased with our experience and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who needs any type of electrical work.

I called a couple of electricians, including Positive Energy Electric, to see if I could get somebody in on short notice for a few minor repairs. Jay Laury was able to fit me in later that day; he showed up right on time in the early evening and there was no extra charge for a later call. I called because earlier in the week I had removed a light fixture and noticed straight wiring and voltage readings that I couldn't explain. Jay quickly realized what was going on and that it was due to some shortcuts taken by a previous electrician. His assistant also diagnosed a partial ground I was receiving on another circuit and repaired my grounding cable to the main water pipe in the basement. I will definitely be calling Positive Energy again for some planned future work.

Jay Laury was my first experience with Angie's List Big Deal. I wasn't sure what to expect. Apparently I was the first person to contact Jay to schedule work through the Big Deal. He was responsive and made an initial visit within one week. On the first visit he repaired/replaced the sticky flip switches but was unable to fix all of the pull chains because he doesn't carry many with him. He explained that they are uncommon nowadays. (Not to us, since we use them every day.) On the second visit a week later he had not arrived by the agreed time, so I called him. He was on his way and not far from my home. He explained that he had forgotten my phone number. Jay mentioned that handling the details isn't his favorite part of his business. That probably describes a lot of self-employed people. But then again, I wasn't hiring a businessman. I was hiring an electrician and Jay knew exactly what he was doing in that regard. On the second visit he completed the work and advised us about steps to improve electrical safety in our old house - much appreciated and important advice for us. When my husband came home from work that night he went around the house changing bulbs in other fixtures based on Jay's advice to reduce any possible fire hazard. Jay did good work, was personable, and I would hire him again if I needed an electrician. It was a positive experience and I will take advantage of a Big Deal again, provided that the amount I pay for the Big Deal is actually a bargain. I guess I need to do more homework first.

We sought estimates from several electricians for our project and found Jay's pricing to be comparable or better than the other electricians we spoke to. He was also got back to us more promptly than some of the others and he answered both emails and phone calls. After deciding to hire Jay, we scheduled the work and were able to line things up for two weeks from when we got the estimate. Jay called the night before the scheduled start to confirm everything. He and his crew showed up on time and got right to work. I had prepared a fairly detailed job list and I think that was really helpful in making sure everyone was on the same page. The crew was able to work efficiently and we knew exactly what we were getting. It's worth noting that I did this of my own accord and I was initially a bit surprised that Jay didn't appear to take any notes when he gave us the estimate (but he did email a written estimate for the project). By having a detailed list we were able to save time on the walkthrough on the first day of work. The job took three days, within the estimated 3-4 days we were told to expect. The crew worked neatly and kept their tools and work areas organized. A few of the new outlets and switches were located in areas of weak plaster and they did a reasonable job repairing the crumbled spots. We were pleasantly surprised by how well everything went. The wiring in our house was a mixed bag of old knob & tube, some slightly less-old work, and some relatively new work, but without sufficient outlets and light switches. Now everything is safer and more convenient. Thanks to Positive Energy Electric for a job well done at a fair price.
