"The chimney cleaner/inspector showed up, took no time at all looking at the chimney, and said that it was clean. There are three chimneys, however. So then I asked for a cap for one of the three chimneys to be installed when they went up to do the inspection. One guy zipped up the ladder with the cap and just plopped it on. He then came down the ladder. I asked about the inspection, and he said it was done. The other thing was that it looked like there was a screw in the middle of each side of the cap. These were definitely not tightened to the chimney. I paid for the cap and the inspection. But I do not feel at all satisfied with any kind of inspection that was done. I am hesitant to light a fire in the fireplace in the end. feeling dissatisfied with this service. sadly"

"They have a drone that took excellent photos before and after the job. The The job was to replace the chimney stack from the roof up. The chimney looks great. Unfortunately they delayed the work day 3 times, blaming each other for miscommunication. The day they finally showed up (over a month later) they requested an extra $1,800.00 blaming the other partner for under estimating the job. I regret not telling him to take his scaffolding down and leave. Nice enough guys but that was not right."

"Contracted them to rebuild both our chimneys and put in liners for the chimney. They showed up on time for the estimate and to do the job as well, they we’re very easy to work with and explained each step of the process and even built a decorative corbel top that looks spectacular which I was not expecting. Would recommend"

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

Generally, snow removal from a roof should occur once over six inches of snow accumulates, especially if you notice that ice dams have formed. Without ice dams, you can let the snow accumulation hit 12 inches before removing it. However, the amount of snow that is too much for your roof also depends on the sturdiness of your roof and the compactness of the snow. If your roof needs maintenance or has structural issues, it’s best not to let the snow accumulate too much for fear of collapsing.

To maintain a slate roof and prolong its lifespan, conduct regular inspections, ideally annually, or schedule professional inspections. Key maintenance includes cleaning gutters regularly, promptly replacing any broken or damaged tiles, and ensuring the flashing remains intact to prevent leaks. It is also recommended to remove overhanging tree branches and address minor issues as soon as they appear.

If your roof has a vapor barrier, you will need approximately one square foot of roof vent for every 300 square feet of ceiling space. If there is no vapor barrier, the roof should have one square foot of roof vent for every 150 square feet of ceiling space. If you are not comfortable making this determination, a local roofing professional can help.

Properly maintained roof decking can last between 20 and 30 years on average, though it varies based on a few factors. Mainly, the quality of roof decking materials and environmental conditions have the most impact on longevity. You can extend its lifespan by regularly inspecting your roof and making repairs as necessary.

Leaving a significant amount of snow on your roof can be risky. Most roofs are designed to handle about 20 pounds per square foot of snow, but exceeding this limit can lead to a roof collapse. A collapse can cause severe damage to your home and belongings and poses a physical danger to anyone inside. Furthermore, heavy snow accumulation increases the risk of ice dams, which can cause leaks and water damage to your roof, attic, and interior walls.
