With knowledge, experience, and hard work, Gary Gesualdo has spent twenty four years providing designers and trade clients with exceptional workroom services. Located on 306 Main Street in East Greenwich, RI, East Coast Designs’ store front offers products for all residential and commercial spaces. Privately owned and managed by Gary, East Coast Designs sets itself apart by selling the complete Hunter Douglas Line of window treatments, including the Alustra Collection, as well as the economy lines that you will assist your sales to the price conscious client. The Hunter Douglas Collection is not offered online or at large box stores (Home Depot, Lowes, etc.), and is only sold to certified, local dealers. We at East Coast Designs make a conscious effort to use drop cloths, and take our shoes off in client’s home. Rest assured, we will not put our tools on any furniture so that we do not damage it in any way. We do not solicit to the client, give out phone numbers, or have any advertisement on our vehicles. We are also all licensed and insured. Normal procedure for a project is for you to make initial contact with the client, which includes taking rough field dimensions. Then you must obtain all of the important field information (number of windows, fabric chosen, details concerning the fabric, verification of availability of fabric, and reserving proper yardages of that fabric). East Coast Designs will then prepare a quote (usually takes 1-2 days), and submit it to the proper channels. Upon approval of the quote, a deposit will need to be received to convert this to an order, and a site visit will be scheduled (within 3-5 days) to verify final dimensions, and any final concerns that the designer or client may have. Drapery fabrication takes approximately 5-7 weeks, and shades and blinds take about 3-4 weeks.

Our company was founded by David Berger over thirty years ago and David has been selling table pads direct to the public for over forty years. We know our table pads and we know how to design the perfect fit the very first time.

Trefler's has been owned and operated by the Trefler family since 1921. It all began in Germany, when Abraham Trefler began a small business for himself building and restoring furniture. Abraham’s son, Eric, was one of the few survivors of the camps in Poland and Germany during WWII. Upon his liberation, he left Europe for New York, and finally settled in Boston, MA. After spending some time working as a furniture restorer for the antique dealers on Beacon Street, he opened his own business. Using the expertise he learned from his father back in Germany, he quickly became renowned for his uncanny ability to restore almost any kind of art object. Today, Trefler’s is still owned and operated by the Trefler family. We expertly mix century-old techniques with modern restoration technology to create some of the best repairs in the world. No project is too big or too small for us to work our magic. Come take a tour of the studio and see what we can do to preserve your family’s heritage.

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Paper moving pads, also called furniture wrapping paper or paper moving blankets, are sheets of recycled paper used to protect various items during moving. Similar to traditional moving blankets, paper pads are also reusable, making them a sustainable and cost-effective option for protecting your belongings during the moving process. Although they’re recycled, they still provide excellent protection against dust, dirt, and scratches.

If your usually super soft couch feels crusty and rough after cleaning, it could be that you haven’t removed the cleaning product properly, you used too much, or you applied the wrong type. Always check the couch tags to select the right cleaning product, read application instructions carefully, and test on an inconspicuous corner. For fabrics such as microfiber, you can soften and fluff crusty fibers using a soft-bristled brush.

It can be cheaper to reupholster a chair or other piece of furniture than to buy a new one, depending on how much it costs to replace. If the chair or couch originally cost less than $300, then reupholstery may not be the cheapest option. However, if the chair is expensive, vintage, or discontinued, reupholstery can be the more affordable option. This is especially true if the piece of furniture is out-of-production or holds sentimental value.

Ongoing maintenance of your leather furniture is the only way to prevent it from peeling and cracking. Real leather will peel and crack as it dries out. Leather conditioners are a great way to protect your leather furniture from drying out, and you’ll need to apply it about twice each year. It’s also a good idea to keep abrasive materials away from your leather to prevent cracking and peeling, including belt buckles, shoes, and multi-surface cleaners, especially those that contain alcohol.

Furniture made from materials resistant to sun fading includes metals like aluminum, stainless steel, and wrought iron, as well as certain synthetic materials like polyethylene (commonly used in outdoor wicker furniture) and resin-based products. Glass tables and accents are also sun resistant. These materials inherently withstand UV rays and are less prone to fading or discoloration. Furniture with UV-resistant coatings or finishes, such as powder-coated metal or UV-protected plastics, offers enhanced protection against sun-induced fading.
