This company was selected by our home warranty program to diagnose our upstairs A/c unit that had gone out. The technicians came out and told us it was the capacitor and then proceeded to tell us it was old and that our unit needed replacing and that would not all be covered by American Home Shield and our responsibility would be about $5000. Having been American Home Shield customers for almost two decades, I knew that was wrong as they replaced our A/C unit in two separate houses (we're military) over the years with no extra cost to us besides the service fee. In any case, York Mechanical never submitted this work order to AHS and I had to call again to have them come out and run a new one. I also called American Home Shield who assured us three times that ALL they needed was a diagnostic report from York Mechanical so we could get the authorization for a new unit. John, the service manager, came by again to run a new diagnostic to submit to AHS and before he even made it two steps into my home (I was alone at home with my children) he began snarking at me telling me, that this visit was basically pointless, telling me he knew the ins and outs of MY warranty plan and I still was going to have to pay them money out of pocket (in addition to the money they would receive from our warranty program). I told him what my experience with AHS was and told him I just needed him to run a diagnostic and then he snapped at me again, telling me he's done this for 17 years and we were going to have to pay York Mechanical out of pocket. I told him he was upsetting me with his Unprofessionalism and that I was going to call my husband (because I no longer felt safe with this man in my home with me and my small children) . The minute I started explaining to my husband what was going on, John started yelling at me from my front hall saying that he didn't say what he said and then stormed out of my house, refusing to run the diagnostic. I called York Mechanical immediately after this to report him, was told by Michelle that no one was available to speak to, so I told her what happened...she sounded like she couldn't care less. I then called American Home Shield and told them what happened. American Home Shield explained to me that York Mechanical had no business discussing financials with me at all as they are supposed to diagnose the problem, come up with a solution and the cost and send it to AHS for review. AHS then looks over their invoice/work order to make sure the charges match the work that is being done and then they look at our plan to see what is covered and then THEY tell us what, if anything, we are responsible for. As it was, York Mechanical never even submitted the first diagnostic test to AHS (which is why I had to call them in again) and it seemed very much like they had no intention of submitting the one they had come again to do until we agreed to the $5000 out of pocket fee...which is the only reason I can think of as to why a technician (who was simply coming to run a diagnostic test for our warranty company) would start his service call by telling me I would be responsible for out of pockets costs and when I pushed back and told him we'd let AHS decide that, he got angry and left without doing the diagnostic at all. When my husband got home, he talked to Don (the manager of York Mechanical) who told him I had verbally abused his technician (by refuting his assessment of MY warranty coverage, I suppose) and then told my husband again that we had to pay them money out of pocket. When my husband told him what AHS told us, he got extremely defensive and accused my husband of attacking his character. Undeterred, my husband asked him why they never sent the original work order to AHS...Don blamed us for not agreeing to the $5000 on top of whatever AHS would cover quote they gave us. Again, that's not how that's supposed to work. AHS calls the contractor, the contractor calls us, sets up an appointment, checks the problem and submits the findings to AHS for review and authorization. AHS then contacts US to tell us what, if anything, we have to pay outside of our warranty. Once we agree to the terms set by AHS, AHS then authorizes the work to be done. Instead, it seems, York Mechanical wanted us to agree to their extra fee (without authorization from AHS) first and then wanted to turn around and get more money from our warranty plan...I'll let the proper authorities be the judge of that, though - because you better believe I've contacted the consumer board. In any case, steer clear of this company if you can. Besides their shady business dealings, just about every person we dealt with was rude and unprofessional.

I initially was not very happy that my home warranty company was forcing me to use a company of their choice. However, I ended up being very happy with the service I was provided with by York Mechanical Services. John initially came out to diagnose the problem. He was thorough, honest, and very responsive when I called him later with questions about the products the home warranty company wanted to use. Gene and his team came to do the actual system replacement. They were also thorough, polite, efficient, and cleaned up before they left. Gene even made sure that I understood the warranty information and that I had all the details I needed to sign up for it. It's been about a week and so far everything is working great.

The guy Mark, came out, stated he checked a bunch of things in the system, proceeded to tell me I need to have the entire system redone because it is old. I paid the service fee, he didn't even repair the pipe that was leaking, and when he "checked" the freon, he emptied it. He stated it was low, but it was blowing cold just fine before and DURING the leak in the attic. Now it's blowing warm to cool and will not cool down my home. I have a 4 day old newborn in the home. He was suppose to fix the pipe and nothing else. He told me it would be $800 just to empty and recharge the system because it uses old freon. It worked before he arrived, was just leaking water ( NOT FREON) into my attic, and now after paying my warranty service fee, it doesn't work after he left. This company is terrible, DO NOT use them.

Had them out twice for septic alarm second time disconnect alarm since couldn't find problem. Third time reconnected and reset alarm but still no answers. Garbage dosposal have to keep hitting reset button for it to work been out twice in a year and still not right. Fridge was leaking came out said was leaky washer had to call back next day since it still leaked. This time told me that it was the water filter and contract didn't cover it. Next was AC stopped working guy came told me that something chewed wires and was not going to work on in rain. (Which was fine) but then he also said landlord would not allow to be fixed. I called office and the tech told them he performed test and it wasn't holding freone then told office that there was a hole in AC unit. None of this did he tell me and he lied about calling landlord or cent 21. Tech was mad because office told him to come back and fix wiring as rain had stopped hours before. I ended up going through a huge mess with insurance companies over he putting a hole in AC unit. I also had them out because something keeps tripping the GFI (?) outlets in house. The tech could not figure it out but told me nothing is wrong and to just hit reset button on all outlets. I have spoken to previous tenant and she had them out for the same problems. If it wasn't for the contract landlord would not continue using them. I don't remember all exact dates would have to find paperwork.

York Mechanical Services was selected for us through our home warranty. I had submitted the request for service through our home warranty company on Sunday night, and I was contacted Monday morning, and scheduled a same-day appointment. The technician, who I believe was named John, called in advance, so that I could leave my office on time to meet him at home. Very nice!
John worked quickly and professionally, and fixed our gas furnace while also replacing the faulty thermostat. He left the instructions, for our new thermostat along with a few verbal instructions. He seemed very knowledgeable and professional. As an added bonus, he pointed out how to use our gas fireplace, which was incredibly helpful, since we never would have figured it out ourselves! Thank you very much for fixing our appliances so that we won't freeze in this 20 degree weather!

Have a home warranty through American Home Shield. York Mechanical Services (YMS) is who contracts for them for HVAC. I submitted the request for service on a Sunday and received a call from YMS on Monday morning. They could not come out until Wednesday morning. The stated they would be at my home between 9 - 12 and showed up around 10. The tech John, was pretty pleasant and was able to identify that the capacitor was bad within a few minutes. He also topped off the coolant (compared to what I've read, price seemed reasonable at $55 per pound). John got everything done in about an hour. Overall a good experience. The only thing I wished he would have done was wipe his boots better before walking through my home.

this company was assigned to our home through our home warranty service for a leaky valve in our shower. The tech came out, was on time, but could not perform the service because our faucet was outdated and parts and quot;weren't availableand quot; for the existing leaky faucet. Instead of service being performed, we were charged $60 and then given the option to purchase our own faucet and then incur an charge of $300-$400 to install the purchased faucet. At the end of the service call, we were $60 poorer and STILL had the same leaky faucet.

We had our initial visit from York Mechanical through our home warranty company. The warranty company wanted to replace our furnaces with inadequate units, and we were willing to obtain quotes for two new furnaces in our home.
Well, it is 3 weeks later and we are still waiting for a quote. Gene, the service rep, at first seemed like a upstanding guy, but when we spoke w/him, the warranty company left a bad taste in his mouth (which I understand). He seemed like he was going to give us the requested quotes, but in the end, never returned calls. The receptionist was pretty flip when we contacted her about the quotes. We will not recommend York Mechanical, and will be sure that review sites note our experiences. This is not a way to run a business.

Very professional and pleasant service agent. I had just had the carpets cleaned and the gentleman offered to go back to his van and put on paper bootees so as not to dirty the clean carpets. My husband spoke to hinm on the phone and the gentleman covered all aspects of the details that my husband outlined to him. I have used this firm in the past and shall continue to do so.

Two guys from YMS came and quickly diagnoised the problem. They had to get a new blower motor. They were not gone long and installed the new motor. They were very professional and honest. We only had to pay the $55 deductable.
