"This client has not presented the facts accurately as I will attempt to clear up here, nor have they explained our willingness to work with them on this, which I expressed to her on the phone. First, the statement that the original estimate was 1050 for the work which was completed is completely misleading & incorrect. The 1050 number, as I explained to her, was an estimate a year ago to replace a few pcs. of bad decking then, not an estimate to replace all the decking on the entire deck. The job couldn’t be finished due to the fact that she did not want us working around the open pool to avoid as much debris getting into it as possible. The weather, although very warm, on that side of the house, did not keep us from finishing anything as we work year round in the weather. When we completed the repairs last year to her satisfaction & discussed full replacement for later, we were very clear to her that it was going to be an involved project & that it could take a week due partly to the fact that the decking goes under the rail posts. Getting the old decking out & installing new & re-attaching the post was very time consuming, and that was explained to her last year. I will also point out that the replacement took us less than the week we anticipated it would, which saved her money. This is despite the fact that she did not permit us to store materials there & we had to take them back to our shop to store in order to keep them out of the rain. This of course took extra time, off site, as well. When she received the invoice last year for the repairs of a very small portion, she did not complain or question it, nor did she ask us to provide her with an estimate for the entire decking replacement. We treated her fairly then & we treated her fairly this time as well, only billing for materials & hours worked. The 2-1/2 day worked comment, again does not give the full accurate picture as I also explained to her. Yes, this is the time (actually 2-3/4 days) that we were on the job making the repairs, but it does not count the hours of making a trip to the job to measure materials needed, ordering & picking up that material, off site staining of material & mobilization of equipment specific to the project that needed to be loaded & unloaded. Again, this was explained to her on the phone, before she wrote this review. It is worth noting that the location of the project was around the back of the house, through a gate & up ladders for access. This is not a problem but does take additional time. Lastly, the comment about making 100 dollars an hour is obviously out of line as that is not at all the case, especially considering the actual amount of work involved as described above. It’s also worth mentioning that in addition to replacing the decking, we cleaned out all the debris below the deck, opened up a clogged gutter near the deck that was not draining (as a result of tree debris around the house) & we accommodated a request by her gardener to supply & install some screw hooks for a pc. of shrubbery to be tied to. It is unfortunate that this customer felt it necessary to come to this venue to inaccurately portray the facts of this experience, especially since we did indeed respond to her concerns immediately & offered for her to pay only what she was comfortable with."
