They're one of the few oil delivery services in the area. Their prices are good.

Good People. Rough start but they made up for it. Same things happen in every business. Their Service Manager Nate ended up taking care of everything and that's essentially the hallmark of a good business no matter what you experience with them.

The sales rep came by with more options than anyone else I had spoken to and was very receptive to the fact it was hot.
once the order was placed and before the schedule was set, an offer was made to provide us with temporary AC units in the meantime, which I thought was extremely thoughtful. (We ended up not needing them because the installation happened quickly.)

See above. Would like to add that service guys were good to work with. Problem seems to be with customer service and management.

I have a contract with them and all my heating and air-conditioner service is covered and that way I can call them and they would come out anytime. I rate them highly.

Shipley Oil's services were great. They were convenient and worked with us. We had to cancel their services at a point and they were kind enough to cancel it and came out when we needed them. They were very co oporative.

We didn't have a good luck with that company. They overcharged us for oil and they instead of filling our tank up, they only brought us 100 gallons, which is not even enough to fill it. We had several instances where they have overcharged. They continue to overcharge unless we say this is a little high. They charge their regular customers 50 cents more a gallon than the on-call customers. We are looking in fact right now to find a replacement for them because the last few times we had deliveries, they don't either fill the tank or they overcharge and don't tell us until we get the bill and then when we question it, they knock 20 cents off / 50 cents off. That is not how the business should be, that is a bad practice as far as I am concerned. It is a hit or miss for pricing with them, they can charge us one thing one time and it does not even make sense how they charge people. They don't call us back when they say they are going to call. They are very unprofessional. We are looking for an alternative service provider, we have had enough of them. We are not the only ones that are having problems with them. I should have looked at Angie's List before buying from them. Angie's List makes it easier for me to shop around. I take it to heart at how it works.

We have a contract with them for our furnace. My furnace broke down and they came and fixed it. They set me up with a program to pay for it and that was nice. They are pretty average. They did a good job. They cleaned the furnace. I would continue to use them in the future.

When we moved into our house in 2006, we sort of inherited Shipley from the prior owners. They delivered our fuel oil and propane. I also entered into a contract with them for maintenance of my heating and cooling system, which necessitated an annual check-up of the system. The propane and fuel oil deliveries went more or less smoothly. I was billed monthly, and was never out of fuel. I did, however, catch them overcharging me once. I called and the money was refunded. The poor part about Shipley is their customer service and the apathetic attitude of the service personnel (not the delivery personnel). Their personnel routinely missed the annual service appointment and would blame it on us. Once there, the service personnel were very nice, but they would hang around all day doing little to nothing or dream up things to fix that were not really broken. I assume this was no big deal to people who don't work (since it was "free" to me with the service contract), but I had to take time off from my job while they clowned around in my basement. Year after year, they found new things to "fix." I finally found out one day when I was talking to the servicemen what the reason for this was: If they finish a job and there is no more work that day, they apparently get sent home... so they make sure to make the job last the whole day (at my expense). As I said above, I also attempted to get Shipley to install a 500 GAL UG Propane tank for me. I simply called and asked for an estimate. That process went the same way the service call went.... If I did not aggressively follow up, I heard nothing. Two years later, I finally got an estimate. I simply had another company do the whole thing in less than two weeks from my initial contact. So, if all you are looking for is simple delivery of fuel and/or propane and you don't mind taking the time to analyze how much you are getting charged or simply don't care, Shipley might be okay. But if you want any work done, I suggest you go elsewhere. I should also note that it took me quite a long time to get back a $1,000+ credit from my account when I asked for it. I don't like having my money held hostage.

They replaced the furnace for free because of the service plan we have. They are a great company. I will use them again in the future.

Simply speaking, I will spend the next few months looking hard at alternatives to Shipley Energy. This experience, left me with a bad taste as regards the companies coorporate policies. I believe the attempt to charge me 80-90 cents more than the market rate was unethical and an example of price gouging.

Everything started out well. Ken Zinn, the sales rep, came to our house and showed us their products. Shipley was running a special for 0% financing for 5 years. We chose a high-efficiency heat pump, and the installers came to the house. While removing our old (empty) oil tank, one of the workmen broke off the spigot where the water comes into the house. We noticed it that evening when we realized the floor was soaking wet. After pointing this out to the workmen the next day, they wrote on their post-installation paperwork that they needed to return to fix this. About a week after the installation, Ken Zinn returned to our house with the financing paperwork. He wrote on that contract that we would not start payment until after they had fixed the broken spigot. It's now a year and a half later; we have contacted their service manager multiple times. He came to the house once, said he would return, and then never got back to us. I wrote a letter last August to remind them of the situation and never received a response. Just last week we received a bill for the full amount due PLUS an extra $600+ in what I presume are late fees. I am extremely disappointed with Shipley for basically forgetting us and not keeping track of their customers.

The tank was there from the previous owner, so we just had it filled up when we moved in. They were quick and efficient. They didn't charge travel fees since I live about thirty miles away, that was impressive for me.

Very satisfied with work performed. When AC salesman called later, I told him I would not be needing him to come out to my house and proceeded to tell him that the second tech who showed up (I believe his name was Kevin) got me up and running quickly and how much I appreciated it and to please pass on my thanks for a job well done.
