Locust Run Kennels

We boarded our Golden Retriever at Locust Run for most of her life (she was 14 years old when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge). We also had her grooming done at Locust Run. I can say we NEVER had bad experience in all those years. We went on a weeklong vacations every year along with some long weekends so our girl was at Locust Run many times over the years. The staff was always attentive and caring to our beautiful girl. After our vacations she always looked well-fed and happy. Also, the kennels are well taken care of and clean. I would not hesitate to recommend Locust Run for boarding and grooming. They took excellent care of our sweet girl.

The staff and facility is great. This was our first time boarding our dog with them, and we'll definitely use them again. The prices were very reasonable, and I think my dog was cared for extremely well during the nine days she was there. There was room for her to go inside and out in her pen. Our dog can be pretty nervous, timid, and defensive around people she doesn't know, but they were experienced with that and calmed her down. They didn't mind when we called to check on her. The hours were so convenient for picking her up and dropping her off.

We have boarded our dogs here for years for short and long term trips and are always pleased with the responsiveness, care and service. They meet our special requests, are always quick to answer the phone, are easy to schedule with and we feel as though our dogs are in good hands when we board them here.

Excellent kennel for boarding your furry friends. Amazes me how clean and odor free they keep the place. Organized and very efficient. She even helped carry all the bedding out to my car as I struggled with my two excited large breed dogs. Even recommending my parents from Chambersburg start to board their dog in this top notch York kennel.

The kennel was extremely clean, and the hours were also extremely convenient.

Over the years, I have used Locust Run for numerous pets, both cats and dogs. They have always given very personal attention to my animals. I feel very relaxed about leaving my pets there.

1. Place was relatively clean. I was surprised walking through the kennels to see that all of the dog pens were clear of waste. 2. Can't beat the price. 3. People were nice and the facilities were ok, too.4. Hours of operation are fantastic!! 5. My only issue is that after picking our dog up we found that she now has kennel cough. She had all her shots, which are a requirement for dogs staying there, so I do not understand how that can happen. This is only the 2nd time that we boarded her and perhaps it can happen anywhere, And if that is the case then please do not hold it against Locust Run.

We would take my dogs to my mother in laws house when we used to visit but when they got a dog one of our dogs didn't get along with their dog and so we couldn't take him there and so we had to board him. Now that he has passed away we can take our dogs again there. We normally don't go anywhere and we are home bodies. We haven't had a need recently. We have taken my mums dog in the past. Usually if you drop them off in the afternoon we didn't have to pay for that day and same with the day you picked them up. They have a lot of kennels and they have a fairly large facility. You don't have to worry about running out of space to put them in and I could call them up anytime and they would take our dogs in. We only had one issue with them. One of my mum's dogs got so angry being there that he licked the flesh off his leg raw. Instead of them calling and telling us what happened they didn't. We were a little upset about that. We had given them emergency contact information on who to call if something went wrong and nobody called us. When we went to pick him we seen the wound and we had to go to the vet. That is the only problem we had with them but I would recommend them. They are heated during the winter time.

We have been boarding our dogs at Locust Run Kennels for almost 30 years. The dogs have always been well cared for and never come back with any parasites or issues that they didn't go in with. Their coats never smell of anything other than the cleaning the kennel does although they are occasionally a bit dusty since the runs are gravel rather than concrete. They do have grooming available although we've only used that once. The dogs pull as eagerly to get into the kennels when we leave them there as they do to get to the van when we pick them up.We feel fully confident in leaving our dogs in Wayne's care.

We boarded the cat there from February 8 2011 until March 05 2011. The cage is approx 4 ft long, 30 inch deep, approx 3 ft high with a shelf about half way up. The cat was allowed to walk inside the area at least once a day, inside a heated barn which is very clean. We will definitely board with them again.

It's really a great kennel. She was there for 3 days and it was $12 a day. They also do grooming and stuff which is really nice. I had her nails trimmed at $6 or $7. It's very clean and it never smells bad there. They have really nice big tents that open out onto runs. There is even a choice of being in the air conditioner in the summer or heater. The people are very nice. They are very reasonable. I really can't say enough about them.

I have been boarding my dogs at Locust Run for several years now. They have a large facility, so they are always able to schedule my dog even if I call a few days before I travel. I was even able to extend his stay when I came home a day later than I had scheduled. The price is lower than any other kennels that I've checked. I also like to schedule him for a bath, so they bathe him on the day that I am scheduled to pick him up.

I love that they know my animals by name and their personalities when I bring them in. They go out of their way to keep an eye on them especially when my one dog was sick. They really take care of the animals they board. They are about thirty miles away but because of the care they give the animals, I will not take them anywhere else. They are definitely worth it. The price I gave is a per day price.
