Buyers beware! If you have plumping issues DO NOT contact Harvey Contractors. I have a home warranty with American Home Shield another company that you do not want to do business with due to their poor warranty service.
American Home Shield sent Joe to our home to find a leak that had developed from our bathroom and was now visible on the ceiling in our dining room. We hadn’t been in our home for two months and were dismayed to find water damage on our ceiling. I was optimistic that Joe would find and fix our leak. He arrived the first time looked at the ceiling and said he couldn’t do anything if he could not “recreate the leak” or if it wasn’t “actively leaking” through the ceiling. He left charged us $ 75 for a service fee and told us to re-calk the tub, and toilet. We did what Joe suggested, and the leak persisted to the point that it was dripping through the ceiling and into a bucket in the dining room.
We called American Home Shield and told them we had an “active leak.” They sent Joe to our home and he proceeded to cut a hole in the dining room ceiling and in my daughter’s room to access the pipes. Once again he could not find the leak and noted on his report that it “appeared that the water was leaking through the shower wall.” At this point I have a hole in my ceiling, one in a bedroom wall and a bucket in the dining room to catch water. Since Joe cut the hole in the ceiling the water is now running onto the wall in the dining room when we shower and still dripping in the bucket.
I decide to watch the pipes while Jay showers and can see where the drip is coming from; I find a wet spot on the pipe and we determine that it’s coming from the shower handle. It’s now the weekend and my contract states that I’ll have to pay any over-time. My confidence in Joe is gone so we decide to purchase a $28 dollar part and replace the shower cartridge. Voila, no more leaking, but I’m out $102.00 and we solved the problem ourselves. I contact American Home Shield about reimbursing us for the part and they don’t think they have any responsibility. I contact Joe since I paid him $75 and he didn’t help to solve the problem. SORRY, no help there either. Harvey Contractors are NOT plumbers and should not represent their company as having the ability to resolve plumping issues. EPIC FAIL!
