The estimate process went fine. They were one of several companies I tried. They were very personal and came out on time. I was not as pleased with the detail in the estimate, and I had to go back and ask for more detail.

The salesman at the showroom was really patient with us when we were selecting colors and deciding what to do with an edging color that we were considering. He suggested an option that we hadn't considered that would be less expensive, but would give us something close to what we wanted. It was very helpful. At that time, Wilsonart offered the solid surface material for counters in either the 1/2" or 1/8" depth. We had a hard time deciding which we wanted to go with, but finally decided on the 1/2". This was what was written on the estimate. When the workmen showed up to install the new counters, I immediately saw that they had used the 1/8" material instead of the 1/2". I pointed this out to the person in charge and he called the company. They asked me if we would be willing to take the counter made up as it was if they would charge us the price for the 1/8" material, plus a 10% discount, since it wasn't what we ordered. That way they wouldn't have to waste the materials and labor and we could get our kitchen put back together. There was a 10-year warranty either way. We weren't happy about it, but decided to take the deal. (Now we wish we hadn't, as we have a couple of places that have cracks and the warranty period is over.) Overall, the installation went just fine. They were careful in tearing out the old counters. The old backsplash was Formica glued to the wall, and they did a good job of being careful to not ruin the wall when removing it. The counters looked nice when they were done. Overall, things went pretty well. We'd have been happier if they had used the correct material in making the counters, but mistakes happen. We could have asked them to redo the counters, but it was our choice to go with the ones they had already made up. So the experience wasn't perfect, but the kitchen looks fine.

From estimate to completion, things went well. The only hitch was the craftsmanship of the tile setter, who is a perfectionist. But the slightly longer completion time was worth it. He did a beautiful job setting the floor tiles. The Corian countertop fit perfectly.
