"They were supposed to install steps leading up to a walkway they were to install. Because of an error in their measurement of the steps length and height, the walkway was installed a foot lower than the lawn. Because of this acute angle, gravel rocks placed on the side of the walkway fall onto the walkway. because of their errors the walkway does not look like it was done by professionals. When Ken was asked if he could do something to fix their mistake, he said that he considered the job over, and he would do nothing to correct it"

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

Stump grindings are usually safe to use in soil, but in some cases, it’s not recommended. Wood chips in particular can bind nitrogen in the soil, which will make it difficult for grass to grow. That’s why it’s important to remove most wood chips and use healthy garden soil if you want to cover the stump spot with grass. Large wood chips may attract beetles and could encourage the growth of fungi when they decay, so you may want to remove them when using the grindings.

To prepare your yard for river rocks, smaller rocks may require laying landscape fabric to keep the stones from sinking into the ground while encouraging proper water drainage. You should also clear the land of weeds and larger boulders and, in some cases, test the density of the soil to ensure it can handle the weight.

Determine whether you have any other heavy, bulky, or oddly-shaped items you’d like to relocate, such as a washing machine or other appliance. Since many professional moving companies may charge minimum fees for their services, you could end up paying the same cost to move a refrigerator as you would to move the fridge and a second or third item.

Pea gravel comes in a variety of colors, including cream, white, black, gray, and brown being some of the most popular choices for homeowners. You can also find red, yellow, green, and even multicolor options for your landscaping needs. The price of pea gravel is about $350 for the typical home improvement project.

Using sand under stepping stones can be beneficial in certain situations. Sand can help level the ground and provide stability for the stepping stones, especially if the ground is uneven. It also allows for minor adjustments during the installation process. However, sand may not be the best choice for all environments. In areas with high foot traffic or heavy rain, sand may wash away or become displaced, leading to an uneven surface. In such cases, a more stable base material like gravel or crushed stone is preferable. Consider your specific landscape conditions before deciding whether to use sand under stepping stones.
