"Rich and the crew were professional, courteous and went of heir way to ensure we had the best work, including dealing with incompetence at Home Depot, which screwed up the materials we ordered. Red Rooster took care of that and was dead on with the timeline and incredible work. 100% reliable and we will be working with them again on future projects."

"If you are looking for a contractor who knows his trade well, takes his time to deliver the best quality possible, and charges a fair price, then look no further! Stan is an absolute true professional. He assembled and installed our prefab kitchen cabinets and did an amazing job. I had wanted to do the project myself, but had too much on my hands and needed to hire help. Boy was I glad I did. The attention to detail and planning was well above and beyond what I had expected.....and I consider myself a perfectionist. Some of our walls are not square and the floor drops about 1.5 - 2 inches on one end of the room. Stan planned everything out perfectly so all of the cabinets are now level, square, and plumb. Where others would have taken short cuts, Stan when the extra lengths to make sure the job was done right and would stand the test of time. He takes his work to heart and truly cares about the final result and pleasing his customers. I will definitely be calling Stan / Demo Worldwide Holding again for my next home improvement project...and you should too!"

Home Building FAQs, answered by experts

Yes, you can finance new construction, though the process often requires a different type of loan than one for an existing property. There are several financing options available:

  • Construction-to-Permanent Loan: This is a common option where a single loan covers the building costs and then converts into a traditional mortgage once construction is complete and you move in.

  • Construction Loan (Stand-Alone): This type of loan provides funding only for the duration of the construction project. Once the house is built, you will need to pay the loan in full, typically by securing a separate, standard mortgage.

  • Builder Financing: Some custom homebuilders offer their own financing options, which may only require a down payment to begin the building process.

  • Bridge Loan: This can be a useful short-term loan to fund your new construction while you are in the process of selling your old home.

  • Home Equity Options: If you are building a second home, you might be able to use a home equity line of credit (HELOC) or a cash-out refinance on your current property.

It's also important to be aware that some lenders may have restrictions on financing for DIY house builds, so be sure to verify that you can secure financing before starting your project.

Local regulations dictate how big an ADU can be, and there may also be restrictions on the percentage of the main residence’s square footage an ADU can have. In most cases, an ADU must be smaller than the main residence, but check with your local building authority to confirm restrictions on ADU size.

Yes, modular homes offer a wide range of customization options for layout, finishes, and features.

The average cost to build a modular home is around $270,000, and most modular homes total between $180,000 and $360,000. Of course, this price varies significantly by location, and the price tends to follow the cost of living in the area. There are quite a few other factors at play that can affect your pricing, including the following:

  • Number of bedrooms and bathrooms

  • Site preparation, including land clearing and leveling

  • Type of foundation

  • Utility connections

  • Cost of building permits

The early stages of building a house are harder than the later stages; laying the foundation and framing the house are two of the most challenging steps. However, it varies for everyone. Some people have difficulty installing HVAC, plumbing, and electricity, while others find it harder to plan the house and secure the necessary permits.
