"Raley's is the company you need to call if your carpets are unsalvageable. Over a period of three years, we managed to grind dirt, grass and mud, tar from the road, grease from a treadmill, permanent marker, and various other unknown substances into a very light, oyster colored carpet in my downstairs living area. We tried every recommended product possible, and were reluctantly about to have the carpet replaced. Fortunately, a friend recommended Raley's. I don't know how Doug did it, but the carpet is now as clean as it was when we moved in, with absolutely no marks or dark traces. The cost of cleaning the carpet was far less expensive than the cost of all of the "guaranteed" products that we had bought over the years, too. Do yourself a favor and call Doug at Raley's; he'll save your carpet and also save you money!"
The front room BEFORE we cleaned it

Another angle looking into the front room of the commercial project prior to cleaning. You can see the HEAVYILY soiled areas.
Another view looking into the front room after cleaning! Our client was thrilled we saved the carpets and made them look almost brand new. The carpets were cleaned, sanitized and deodorized.
This is the 2nd room we cleaned for this client. This shows the before cleaning and how dirty the carpets were prior to the restorative process.

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

No, it works best under synthetic carpets in high-traffic or moisture-prone areas. Avoid using moisture barrier padding under natural fiber carpets like wool, which need air circulation. The barrier can trap the moisture against natural fibers and cause problems. Also, you can skip it in low-risk areas like upstairs guest bedrooms, where the extra protection often isn't worth the added cost.

The life span of carpet in a home with children and animals depends on factors like the carpet material’s quality, how frequently you clean and maintain it, and the level of foot traffic. On average, carpets need to be replaced every five to 15 years. Signs of wear, matting, or persistent odors may indicate that it's time to contact a local flooring company to replace your carpet.

If you have a concrete subfloor, you must secure the carpet padding with adhesive or glue. However, if you have a wooden subfloor, use staples instead. Removing a glued-down carpet can be difficult and time-consuming, so it’s best to avoid glue when possible.

The type of flooring you choose for your bedroom comes down to personal preference. Many people prefer carpet over hard-surface flooring types (such as hardwood, tile, or stone) in their bedrooms because it’s warmer and cozier. Carpeting also helps muffle sound, which may benefit those who have trouble sleeping.

On the other hand, some folks prefer the look of hardwood over carpet. People with allergies might also opt for non-carpeted flooring since carpet fibers can attract dust, dander, and other allergens.

No, thick carpet padding isn’t necessarily better than thinner padding. The appropriate padding thickness will depend on the type of carpet and the amount of foot traffic in the area.

For example, thick padding works well in low-traffic areas, like bedrooms, where you have soft and plush carpeting. However, thick carpet padding can damage low-pile carpet, which is used in the busiest parts of your home (like hallways and entryways). For that reason, it’s best to use thinner, heavier padding underneath carpet in high-traffic areas.
