"A+++! Mason initially beautifully repaired a cracked and water damaged ceiling for us before we put our house up for sale. Fortunately, we then had immediate buyers and the sale progressed quickly, but of course we had a few things to have repaired in order to get a clear CO and to accommodate inspection repair requests. This included some electrical work, stair repair, roof repair, support beam repair, wood rot repair, among a few other items. I appreciated being able to count on Mason for a quick response and fitting our repair into his schedule quickly so we could meet our tight deadlines to inspectors and buyers. His prices were reasonable and his work was clean and of high quality. He was responsive and very nice - truly great to work with. We also appreciated his electronic system for estimates, invoices and payments. I highly recommend him to everyone and we will absolutely be calling him for everything needed in the future. Can't say enough good things about him!!"

We are a small business just starting out. We are a husband and wife team and work well together and are the only two working at the moment. Together we have successfully completed 3 full home renovations in 7 short months. We are looking to broaden our work area to become more successful and grow. Our company motto is "No job to big or small we do it all" We do not offer financing billing is done in house and will be discussed at the appropriate time. The only outsourced work is for plumbing and electrical. We are not looking to become rich, just out to help make things better for people at a reasonable price. We are insured and a registered home improvement business with the state of Pennsylvania.

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Wooden carports offer aesthetic appeal, durability, and customization options compared to metal alternatives.

The minimum recommended height for a carport is 7 feet tall, but you might need a significantly taller carport to provide clearance for RVs, commercial trucks, or other tall vehicles. You can choose your carport height based on the clearance you need and how the carport looks in comparison to the height of your home. Just keep in mind that building regulations usually dictate a maximum carport height.

Although dependent on the type and size of lumber, most 2-by-4-by-8-foot pieces of lumber cost anywhere from $3 to $6. Softwood lumber like pine falls on the lower end of the spectrum, while hardwood lumber like oak or walnut falls on the higher end. Different retailers and lumber yards can also vary in price, so it helps to shop around to compare prices.

A carpenter typically does woodwork involved in constructing a home or other building, such as framing, installing sheathing, hanging kitchen cabinets, and installing trusses. These tasks are different from the focus of a woodworker, who typically does the finer interior detailed woodwork such as trim and moldings.

There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.
