"Mid State Baths gets a 5 star rating beginning with Jason Uhazie presentation which was by far the most professional and straight forward of the four we heard. Jason and his crew showed up at 9am, just as he said they would, and went right to work removing our old fiberglass tub/shower unit and installing the new walk-in shower. The instillation was done by 4pm. Because I am 81 years old Jason included a "Shower Chair" at no additional cost. Mid State Baths was not the lowest price but their superior product and service made them the best choice."

Of the two most common and affordable bathtub materials, acrylic is notably better. Though fiberglass is cheaper, it is also more prone to scratching, chipping, fading, and cracking. There are a few ways to check whether your tub is fiberglass or acrylic. If your tub is a color other than white, then your tub is likely acrylic (as fiberglass tubs are usually white). Check to see if there is discoloration on the bottom of the tub, because if it’s yellowed, then you can be fairly sure it’s fiberglass.

Also, fiberglass tubs have thinner edges and are cool to the touch. Acrylic, on the other hand, is either room temperature or warm to the touch.

Before you begin caulking a shower, you’ll need to use a utility knife or solvent to remove the old caulk and inspect the area for mold. If needed, take appropriate steps to get rid of the mold, then wipe everything down with dish soap and warm water before letting it dry completely. Finally, surround the caulking area with two strips of blue painter’s tape—one above the joint where you’re caulking and another below it.

The reglazed tub won’t last as long as a brand-new bathtub. Professional reglazing jobs can only last up to 15 years.
