For a master bath remodeling, the general contractor, Rainbow Valley Construction, was excellent and so were most of the sub-contractors -- plumbers, painters, electricians, etc. Most of the work by Stone Works (whose cost I cannot remember specifically) was satisfactory except for a gouge a few inches long that the installer created across a piece of existing travertine floor tile. Stone Works made a half-hearted attempt to fill the gouge, but the filler did not match the stone at all and remained very apparent and very unsightly.
By chance I encountered the owner of Stone Works last fall and expressed my continuing unhappiness with the scar on the floor of the remodeled bathroom. He took my name and number and promised to call to arrange an attempt to correct the problem. Months went by with no call. I then encountered the owner again at a Home and Garden Show where he was manning a company booth. He was apologetic about not contacting me and, again, promised to do so. Months went by and, again, no call. I finally found an independent contractor who did a wonderful job of filling the gouge and matching the color of the stone.
To this day, I have never heard from the owner of Stone Works. It's clear to me that he never meant to keep his promises to call to address the problem his employee created. He, in short, simply blew me off. Because of his un-kept promises and his lack of courtesy and professionalism, I would never again hire Stone Works and certainly never recommend that company to anyone else.

We got four bids on this work, and we decided on Stone Works after looking at reviews of them on Angie's List, which were all pretty good. Their price was on the low side, but they were not the lowest bidder. The office staff were all very good to work with and very responsive, they also showed up to do the install when they said they would. The countertops looked great as they brought them in and started to install them, however when they were done we noticed an issue with the one seam they made during installation. The whole seam was rough to the touch with section of it with a step (one side of the seam higher than the other about 1/64") at the front of the counter extending back about six inches. As a result the seam was very noticeable. The people who did the install told us they couldn't do anything with it, that was just the way it was. Seams sometimes turned out that way. I contacted the office again, and the owner came out to look. He told us the same thing, the seam could not be fixed. He was pretty defensive and somewhat blustery.
After talking to the manufacturer and other suppliers (several hours on line and on the phone) I found someone in town who purportedly could polish out imperfections (Jackie Hoffman with Steve's Polishing Pro Systems). She came out, looked, and said she could fix the seam. Yesterday she did that. It took her about six hours of polishing work, but it's now acceptable. The sides of the seams match, and the finish is as good as the rest of the counters.
To Stone Works credit they eventually did agree to pay for the repair. I wish they would have admitted the mistake from the beginning, and just fixed the problem. It would have saved us a lot of time and heartache. I find it hard to believe they didn't know that the seam could be polished out.

They helped us with choosing backsplash, and putting it in one day.

They were very competitive with other people who do the same stuff, and they were very professional. They even have a really nice, big choices of materials that you can choose from. They were knowledgeable people. One thing I like about them was when we talk about when they would be able to do the job, they schedule it as soon as possible.
