Mac Genie

We had just brought home a new iMac desktop. After attempting to transfer files from our old computer via a portable hard drive (we had traded in the old model, so couldn't do a direct transfer, but the techies at the store where we bought the new machine assured us this was just an easy and quot;drag and dropand quot; process--HA!), I threw in the towel and scanned Angie's List for someone who knew Macs. The Mac Genie's obvious expertise with Macs and his list of services that included installs, trouble shooting, and upgrades caught my attention.
Though Damien would have come to the house to do the work, we arranged for me to deliver the computer and other necessary items to him so he could work on it as his schedule allowed and he wouldn't feel rushed sitting in our home office. He jokingly told me I had reached that stage with computers where I know just enough to be dangerous! I had felt like the transfer process seemed doable, but I was unaware of the array of potential pitfalls, such as not being able to tell the machine to only transfer MY files and not our daughter's back-ups (we were using her portable drive). EVERYTHING went onto our machine in an all-night process, and it was all pass-word protected to her settings in a machine-created new user account.
Damien returned our beautiful new machine to it's pristine condition and started over, installing things where they belonged into the correct user accounts. Then, as stated above, he got things up and running for our printer and back-up drive. He was ever so patient, explaining what had gone wrong, and what he had done to remedy the situation. He graciously assured me that I'm not a techno-idiot, and that file transfers such as what I attempted are not as easy as they sound! He patiently answered each of my questions, speaking English, not techno-jargon, making sure I really understood what he was telling me; and even over the phone he could sense just when he might be losing me in and quot;computer-speak.and quot; All is now running smoothly and we are happily computing away. I would recommend the Mac Genie to anyone needing help with a Mac.

Overall, very pleasant experience. I had several questions regarding my Mac book Pro, usage, iPhoto, back ups, cleaning up files etc. Each question was addressed in an informative manner that clearly answered my questions. I was also given helpful tips for better utilization of my computer.

He cleaned up my computer. It is working much faster now. He is an amazing young man. He is very thorough, conscientious, and an excellent teacher. He explains everything in great detail so you can remember it for the future. I have learned so much from his explanations and service. I have a better sense of why exactly he is doing certain things. He goes way above and beyond compared to other technicians. He is very knowledgeable and experienced in the field. He is also an apple certified technician. He works through iChat so he can work anywhere throughout the country. His rates are very reasonable compared to other technicians I have used. I recommend his services to anyone.
