This is a tree I transplanted from a neighbors yard some 25 years ago. I absolutely love this tree and "James Cummings Tree Service" loves trees as much as I do. They came out and gave me an estimate and stuck by that estimate. I love the work they do -- my wonderful tree turned out as beautiful as ever. Nice job guys!

Great! We showed them what we wanted trimmed and they proposed what they would do and why. Then, they did it, and it looks even better than we expected.

four mature hardwoods on a hillside single family residence were encroaching onto/over neighbor's properties - - - this resulted in required pruning - - - which was performed in top-notch fashion: on time, with substantial verbal interactions, including a complete clean up - - - could not have expected a better experience

Excellent service. The workers arrived on time, completed the job quickly and removed all debris. This service was less than half the cost of another bid. Following multiple winter storms, a waiting list was inevitable, but, Brian communicated well and gave realistic expectation of when work could occur. They did what they said they could do, by the time they said they could do it. I appreciate this level of service. Great Job!!

It was wonderful. At that time just about everyone in Eugene was trying to find someone to help with their downed limbs and trees. I called about 8 companies, and Cummings was the first to call back. They said they would be working in my area the following week and could do the work then. They arrived when they said they would, and all of the crew, including the owner, was polite and efficient. They dealt with the downed limbs and then we talked about what to do with the trees in light of the loss of limbs. It was decided that the trees had too much damage to save. James said that as the roads were starting to clear in the south hills, the crew was going to do those jobs and come back and remove the 2 trees. True to his word, the crew came back about 3 weeks later and finished the job. I also had them grind the stump in the front yard which they did last week. While it seems like this took a long time to do the work, I appreciated the fact that they came almost immediately, took care of the most pressing problems, went to help others with their immediate needs, and came back to finish as promised. The cost they estimated was almost exactly what I had been given in the past to have the trees removed and there was no "price gouging" because of loss of trees all over town and the scarcity of companies to do the work. This told me a bit about their ethics and integrity, which made me even happier that I chose them to do this job.

We needed a lot of work done to remove some trees too close to the house, as well as some judicious pruning and/or removal of trees that were either unhealthy or posing problems because of their location. Darren was especially informative, when considering the scope of the work involved and the condition of the trees. He also provided us with the info we needed to contact the city, and make certain we had permits, if required (we're just moving to Eugene). The bid was especially reasonable, the crew all arrived on time, the work was meticulous (done by tree climbers as well as from a bucket truck) and the clean-up was awesome. We can't say enough about how positive an experience it was. We enthusiastically recommend this company to anyone considering similar work, and we will contact them again next year for "round two". Oh, the neighbors all give their work a big "thumbs up" too! Thanks James, Darren, Leland, and all the other guys who did such impressive work. 

James Cummings Tree Service removed all the landscaping and trees on a property we are remodeling at Valley River Village.  The property had been bank owned for five years and very neglected. It was not in good shape and we felt wee needed to start over. Not a project we wanted to begin, but felt was necessary.  It was a very complicated project regarding tree removal.  Cranes needed to be used to protect the ponds, surrounding common areas and paths.  James Cummings crew was exceptional in every way.  There was no damage to the property or surrounding property.  Their clean up when they were finished exceeded our expectations.  I have worked with several companies in there past for Tree removal and maintenance and James Cummings Tree Service is the first I felt I needed to write a review about.  Can  not say enough about this company!  Wonderful!

James Cummings Tree Service cut down a 75 foot black oak that was dying from our front yard. It was close to our house and on a slope and was making a mess of the yard and gutters and roof.  The tree was cut down, wood hauled and front yard cleaned up in a little over two hours.  All the neighbors enjoyed the "show."  Their estimate was $700 less than the closest bid and took considerably less time.  Will definitely be using them again.

Communication with James Cummings Tree Service was excellent. They came on-time to do an estimate and arrived on time to do the work when scheduled. We live on a golf course and the guys were very good of staying out of the way of golfers and were safety first when working.  I didn't have them haul away the wood they cut to 16-18", but did haul ways the waste that would be firewood.

They removed 1 dead Grand Fir and removed most dead limbs from the Douglas Fir next to it, up about 15'.  Cut the wood from the Grand Fir in 16" lengths as I had requested.
Also, limbed up two other Douglas Fir trees near the house to about 20", mostly dead branches.  The two workmen, sorry that I don't remember their names, were very congenial and proficient at their trade.  They removed all the branches from the property as agreed. I would definitely use this service in the future.  Their price was 
well within the going rate for this type of work.

In addition to the individual who visited to provide an estimate, James Cummings (the owner of the company) came out to the house twice in advance of the job to determine how the job would be executed and how the large pieces of trunk would be removed from the yard. The crew were extremely knowledgeable and well-coordinated. They also put a brace on a tree in the front yard to protect from splitting in future ice storms. In addition to the care they took with the tree removal, you would never know that there was so much equipment and traffic in and around the property. They returned the next day to make sure everything was in order. I will not consider another arborist to remove and/or care for trees on my property in the future.

James and Shawn showed up early Thursday morning -- due to a cancellation, I was lucky to be their first customer of the day.  They first asked me to show them what "I thought needed to be done", then they explained what could be done for the health of the tree -- then they went to work -- for the next four hours!  They pruned all of the dead undergrowth, removed several obtrusive limbs; they basically took an ugly duckling and turned her into a beautiful swan!  They worked extremely hard 'in and around' the tree for the entire time they were here -- when they cleaned up to leave, the only way I could tell they had been there was the beauty of my tree!
It is amazing how much more alive my tree is now.  I can't help but stop and just look up into 'her' canopy -- absolutely stunning!

James and his crew came right on time and did not waste time.  The work was done professionally, quickly, and to spec.  Clean up was great and they even did a few things for me to keep some of the wood I wanted.

We contacted James Cummings tree service after we got the go-ahead from our insurance company to remove the fallen trees and repair the fence (which has not yet been done).  I found this service on Angies List and it was highly rated.  When I contacted them, the response was very timely and an arborist appeared to assess the job within three days.  He scheduled the job for the following week.  The crew appeared right on time, removed the trees (and one of them was a huge cottonwood) and cleaned up so well that it was hard to know they were there.  All this was done within 3 hours, and, even though they had to work around some raised garden bed, there was no damage done to the property in any way.  The service from beginning to end was courteous and professional -- the best experience I have had with a tree service; and I have hired tree services three times before.

They were one of the only tree companies thar called us back, showed up for an estimate and followed through with an estimate. This was right after a recent windstorm and we knew tree services would be busy and we expected a delay but there were other services that did not even call us back, not even to say they we're too busy or whatever.
James Cumming's service kept in touch and showed up on time with 5-7 people. They protected the sides of the house for the most part where they carried the branches etc through our gate. There were some scratches on our cedar siding higher up the side of the house where the edges of branches touched the house.
The crew was professional, took care to not damage one in ground sprinkler, or anything else, was very efficient in limbing and then removing the trunk of the trees. 2 of the maples were large and they managed to get everything done, all 3 trees and the wood transported out to the front in just over 3 hours.  Their truck came by a short time later to load the wood. 
We would recommend them and use them again.
