NOT TO BE TRUSTED. A whiney, unreliable, no show excuse machine, who is avoidant of the truth and thinks he is the only one who has a life or whose time matters. That is my experience with JD Hansen. Mr. Hansen comprises the one man operation known as Hansen Lawn Maintenance or JD Hansen Landscaping. Avoid JD Hansen if you value sanity. What follows is a partial history of texts exchanged, texts being his preferred method of communication: 4/15: set apt for Sat 4/28 [13 day wait] 4/27: JD: I’m running behind and need to play catchup tomorrow. Would it be any inconvenience to come over Sun about 3:30 [CANCELS] Me: Sorry, late Sunday doesn’t work. I’ve got 16 to 20 hours work for you and a check you can take straight to the bank how about rescheduling for next week? JD: I lowered my rates to $25/HR plus I pay dump fees. No extras. The next two days I have are the 10th and 11th and we can get you all taken care of. Me: Sounds like a plan, I’ll look forward to seeing you. [14 day wait] 5/9 1:36 PM JD: I’ll be there on Friday [the 11th] I need tomorrow to catch up on mowing…..we’ll have to schedule another day for a second round of weeding. I’m sorry. [CANCELS] Me: At this point I call him back immediately and say I absolutely need the work completed by the 13th because of a family event. He responds the next morning @ 8:30 AM I’ll be there Friday and Saturday for sure. 5/10 12:22 PM JD: (regarding Friday) I probably won’t be there until 9:30 tomorrow. I have two lawns to mow before I come over. Me: OK. If you can get this completed by Sunday there will be a bonus for you. Thanks. Friday 5/11 10:12 AM JD: I’m still playing catchup. My best client needs me today. I cancelled my appointment for tomorrow so I can give you 2 full days. I’ll have 16 or more hours to give you Saturday and Sunday. I’m really sorry… [CANCELS] Me: OK 5/11 5:32 PM Me: What time will you be starting? JD: Eight. Is that OK. Me: Ok 5/12: 7:26 AM JD: I have to go to the dump before I come over but I’ll be there. Me: Me: Time of arrival? More or less? JD: 9:30 I have to wait for them to open. (note in retrospect he had to have known @5:32 PM the night before he wouldn’t make it at 8:00 AM if he was waiting for the dump to open!) Me: OK 8:48 AM JD: I can’t find my hoe, I don’t know where it is. I’ll have to use my weed eater…. Me: I have a hoe 9: 30 AM JD: I might have to get one at True Value. I need it. I’ll be there same time. (Note he couldn’t possibly be there at 9:30 because that’s what time it is.) Me: If you don’t want the job I’d appreciate you just being direct about it. 10:13 AM JD: I do. I’m trying. I had to schedule you before my other clients. (Then why did he keep cancelling me and is unprepared to work now?) AND HE NEVER SHOWED UP. A check of his social media activity showed that much of this time he was not even working and was changing his hourly rate at least twice a week.
