Extremely good quality work, great communication, and integrity. We originally had the roof replaced in 2017 when it developed a leak near a large dormer. When they pulled the old roof off and it threatened rain, the team came out and worked quickly to cover the house in a temporary layer of plastic. Then, in late 2019 we noticed a leak in the exact same spot as before. Erin came out a couple times to try and determine the cause of the problem. In the end, he decided that it was a problem with the size of the dormer, and the fact that it was all slanted to one side and the amount of fall and spring rain would sometimes overwhelm the shingles in the dormer valley. He completely redid the section that was leaking, adding a waterproof layer under the shingles, and installed a custom gutter down the pitch of the roof to drain the dormer valley. All of these extra visits were covered by their "our roofs don't leak" warranty. On the whole, I have been very impressed with their commitment to good quality work. I appreciated Erin's very responsive (all text-message) communication style. We would absolutely hire them again for a future job.

Gruwell Roofing was recommended to me and, without hesitation, I will gladly recommend Gruwell Roofing to others (and have multiple times since my roof was completed). I am a hard customer (and always skeptical) who values great customer service, honesty, and punctuality. I pay attention to details, expect quality work, and do not want to get nickled and dimed. This is a difficult combination when it comes to finding a contractor, let alone a roofing contractor. Gruwell Roofing came through on all accounts. The entire process was effortless. Matt Gruwell is very genuine, personable, and honest. Extremely helpful and educational, as well. Never once did I feel like I was being taken advantage of. He wanted to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted, with a few valuable suggestions added for consideration. This is a family business (also important to me) and it showed. Spending a sizable amount of money on something like a roof is painful in any scenario, but Gruwell Roofing made the financial pain a little easier to take. By the way, the roof looks great, ask my neighbors (even a reputable roofer that lives down the street was impressed with the results - no joke). TS.

When my leaking skylight needed to be replaced, my choices were to go with a skylight company, or a roofing company who also installs skylights. I choose Gruwell Roofing because I wanted to be sure the roofing around the skylight was restored as it should be, plus they provided the same skylights I would have chosen with the skylight company. Matt provided an estimate and while on the roof, repaired a minor roofing problem I didn't know I had. After I accepted his bid, he came back and covered the skylight so it wouldn't leak prior to receiving and installing the new skylights. Erin installed the skylights after they arrived. Both men were pleasant and professional and the work progressed as promised. Due to the coronavirus the inside finish work has not been completed yet but will be soon. I did have one minor issue, which was choosing the color of the solar blinds. I wanted them to be light in color but also block the sunlight; the color I chose does block the sunlight but not completely. It would have been nice to have a little more advice regarding color but ultimately it was my choice. Gruwell did a great job and I'm happy with their work. I will definitely call them when it's time to replace the roof.

Great. Various crews came and did jobs. Final roof looks great and they cleaned up. I walked lawn before mowing and found only one small piece missed. Good job from start to finish. Estimate was clear and exact. Carpentry in attic good.

I cannot say enough good things about Gruwell Roofing & Restoration. They performed two jobs for us, and the results far exceeded expectation. The first was the patching of a leaky roof of my former house during the rainy season, and the second was the complete replacement of the roof on my new house. In both cases, they were punctual, professional, and delivered the result within the promised time frame and estimate. In the case of my new home, they suggested that the old roof lathing be replaced with plywood, and they installed it in an extremely timely and cost effective manner. Further, I was traveling for work during the roof replacement so I did not see the work. But, when I came home, the new roof was beautiful, and there was no trace that workmen had ever been on the property. They cleaned up everything, and there was not even one spec of trash anywhere on the property... I highly recommend Gruwell Roofing & Restoration, and would suggest you hire them without reservation. Very prompt in getting out to look over the project and give an estimate. In addition, one of the skylights had a significant leak so Matt offered to create and install (using materials and tools he had in his truck) a temporary cover to keep the rain out until the unit could be replaced. This was done without charge and in spite of the fact that I was still evaluating options and he was not guaranteed a job. I ended up getting a couple of estimates and Matt's was lower to boot. So glad I hired Matt for the job. The installation went quickly and smoothly. All debris was cleaned up and hauled away and all aspects of my experience with Gruwell was friendly, pleasant and professional. I do not hesitate to recommend Gruwell Roofing.

Working with Erin Gruwell and his crew was very enjoyable and stress free. They did a great job on everything and it was an efficient process as well. I thought it was going to take about twice as long but he got a crew of guys out here and did everything in less than 2 days of work. This was just done in April of 2018. He also saved me in Dec. of 2016 when he patched the previous roof that somebody else had done in 2004 during a rainy part of the year and while I was having a floor restoration done, which would have been a huge problem had he not been able to come right out and patch it up. The roofing team showed up on time each day, knocking out a difficult re-roof that included over 30 sheets of OSB. Communication was solid. Work was exceptional.

The guys at Gruwell were always on time on work days, and always very polite and easy to deal with. They left my property clean after the work was complete. I really appreciate them pushing through the project even when the weather turned nasty. I would definitely hire Gruwell again!

Professionalism all the way from owner all the workers. They even found a solution to our "bird problem" of starlings getting into the roof and nesting by installing new bird-proof soffits. Great job on the roof, cleanup, and work was done on time, very quickly.

They were booked out by several weeks, but once they were able to get started, they completed the work quite quickly and on scheduled. A few weeks later we noticed a couple of wet areas on the new sections of plywood. Matt came right out to take a look. A couple of days later, here comes one of his guys to repair the area (around a chimney). A very tiny leak, but given the heavy rains we had...it showed up quickly. These things happen. From my perspective their response to an issue was spot on and extremely professional. No issues since. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have a true professional that cares about quality work.

The whole experience was excellent. The sales portion was not pushy at all, just informative. Our roof was a complicated job and they completed it well. The crew was very professional and worked hard. They cleaned up thoroughly for the weekend and again when the work was finished. Over the last 9 months we have had no issues, everything was done correctly the first time. We would definitely choose Gruwell again.

Gruwell roofing did not disappoint. Matt, who did the estimate scheduled me for the latter part of June. In addition, at the time of the estimate, he told me what he planned to do, along with options. He also followed up prior to my selection of color roof tiles by driving to various jobs that he had completed, taking photos, and emailing to me so I could decide what would look best on my roof. How many contractors would do that? The crew arrived as promised and scheduled by Matt, did the tear down of the old roofing material on day one, as well as laying the synthetic underlayment. Day 2 they installed the majority of the new tiles, and finished up on day 3. The 5 man crew, led by Erin(Matt's brother) were outstanding. They were knowledgeable, conscientious, answered any and all questions I had, and got the job done quickly and efficiently. Clean-up, each day was outstanding. I have to say Erin runs a tight crew, and left no doubt in my mind that I was getting an excellent job. In addition to the roofing, Erin and his crew did some dry rot repair. Once the roofing was completed, the following week, Matt had his gutter replacement contractor come in and replace all my gutters. The gutter crew was outstanding also. They knew what they were doing, had all the necessary equipment, and completed the job in two days. The new roof and gutters look great. My thanks to Gruwell roofing and his gutter contractor for a job well done. I highly recommend that you give Gruwell your consideration when you decide it is time to replace your roof and gutters.

I am very pleased and impressed with the job that Aaron and crew did. I know a little about roofing and I have seen some roofers cut corners before such as not using hip and ridge, not installing edge metal throughout, etc.,?but not with the job Gruwells did, and the roof looks great.?

Matt Gruwell, owner, courteous, profession and responsive to email and suggested an appointment date for the start of work. Crew of workers arrived promptly each day (job took 3 days), worked with dedication and expertise until job was finished and grounds spotless. Home owner was present for part of the first two days, but workers carried on and completed the job with owner absent on the third day. Extremely satisfied. Neighbor also quite impressed and asked for color of shingles and name of company. I believe they have also utilized Gruwell Roofing for their own roof.

Theirs was the only bid I received, decided to accept it, partly because of the excellent references on Angie's List. I gave it 4 stars for the price, only because I had nothing to compare it to.

it went well.  Erin came out for a quote right away.  Explained our options.  Didn't try to upsell us on a whole new roof.  Explained that the repair would be done on a day where they finished a large job early and that it would probably be a few weeks before the repair was made based on their current workload.  Took about 4 weeks, but its been raining buckets for months, so I don't fault them for that.  The whole thing took a few hours.  They were here and gone without me even seeing them.  Roof looks great.  Cleaned up any mess.  Highly recommend.

From start to finish my experience with Matt and the rest of the Gruwell team was awesome. The bid came in when expected and he went the extra mile to explain what differences his bid had vs what I might see from others. I called four places to get a bid - one never answered their phone, another said they would come within the week and get back to me with a bid but I never heard, Matt and one other company got back to me within the time they said they would and both had pretty competitive prices. Some additional follow up and a coin flip won Gruwell the business and I don't regret it.  The team was professional, on time and did a great job. Matt followed up with his inspection. My roof looks great, I was invoiced what I expected to pay and no more worries about leaks. They got the removal done in one day and the replacement done the next. They did a great job of cleaning up behind themselves - aside from the new roof I could barely tell they were there.

We could not be more satisfied with this company.  We were in discussion with them for two years re: re-roofing our house, and because of various difficulties we faced we were not able to have the job done when we'd initially planned. Not only was Gruwell very responsive to our questions and concerns, but in the space of two years, the estimate for the roofing job did not change.  I was pleasantly surprised by that and we were very appreciative.  
What I liked most about this company is their professionalism and of course, the quality of the work.  We drove by several roofs they had done to check out colors (they readily provided addresses for us) and they also brought samples to our house for our final decision.  We never had to nag them to get an answer to a question, and we appreciated that they did not seem irritated when we had to cancel--twice--our plans to have the work done.  
When they did do the job, it was exactly as I had hoped.  They brought a larger crew so the job would go faster.  They worked nonstop from the beginning of the day to the end, at which time they cleaned up so well that we could have had people over for dinner and they would not have known we were in the middle of having a new roof put on. There was no debris anywhere!!  
I also appreciated that they did not inflict loud music and yelling upon us or our neighbors, as a different roofer did when they did the job on the house next to ours.  What influenced me to choose Gruwell was that I knew they would NOT do that....I would not end up with nails in my driveway and loud music blaring from the rooftop from 8-5 each day.  The workers were polite, they worked hard, they kept their music low, and they did great work.
I would definitely hire Gruwell again.  It was a pleasure working with them!!

This is an update. I just wanted to say that we have NOT had to follow up with any issues whatsoever with our roof or skylights. No leaks. No loose shingles. Excellent job!
