At the outset I want to say that my less than excellent rating overall and my decision not to use Commercial Air again has nothing to do with either the attitude (pleasant) or expertise (I am in no position to judge) of the 2 service personnel who worked on this furnace over the past 3 years. But I am looking at 5 Invoices from Commercial Air dated 12/06/10, 01/04/11, 03/07/13, 03/11/13, and 10/29/13 and I have to wonder whether our problem was handled as efficiently as it should have. All 5 bills relate to the same problem -- "intermittent operation" -- of the same furnace. Whether the problem has finally been properly diagnosed and fixed remains to be seen (I'm assuming that a "proper fix" is one that lasts appreciably more than a few weeks, the time lapse between the last service call and the time of this writing). Over the nearly 3-year time span that Commercial Air has tried to fix the intermittent operation of this furnace I have paid for: 2 new control boards @ $207.00 and 271.70; a new flame sensor @ 51.96; a Honeywell 5000 thermostat @ 124.00; and a new gas valve @ 275.80 ... $1,147.50 for labor costs ... $15.00 fuel surcharge for a total of $2,092.96. Now I readily admit that there is no way to know for sure if all these parts, the labor required to diagnose, install and check were necessary or whether a more systematic and customer friendly approach to the problem would have minimized the cost, but I submit that there is room to think so; hence my decision to rate as I did.
