Mike was easy to work with for the most part. He was very polite and professional and tried to attend to all items I spoke with him about. Quality of the painting was very good but there were paint boo boos that were not cleaned up. Painting was done by hand which I feel made the quality of the work better even though it took a little longer. Towards the end of the project he did try to go off to start other jobs but I told him that he needed to complete my job. He had to work around my three little barking sometimes rude dogs which they did well and cleaned up extensively the work area my pets have access to so they would not eat unsafe items laying around. They broke a couple of things and did not tell me about it but I feel he tried to correct it by giving me the afore mentioned cash discount. I accidentally gave him a check upon completion of the project that he could not cash. I could tell he was a little upset when he came back holding the check out in his hand on the way to and at my doorstep. But i thnk overall he handled it professionally. He did ask for 50% down before starting which I found unusual. Most people ask for a deposit or money to cover cost of materials which in this case I mostly paid for.
He did say he was going to install some windows on a day we were going to be gone and he showed up later that day and said he forgot his helper had off that day and he could not do it alone. I will use him in the future. He was mostly reliable and did not try to cheat me. And we clicked as far as communication went and hecould deal with me when I got a little upset about the type of windows I got. It mostly had to do with how the store named them which I have no idea if Mike was aware of that. He did tell me about a sale that the local store had on the windows/door. Overall it was a positive experience and I think more people should call him for work.We have two indoor cats and an older dog, and were concerned about them getting out (as we live on a very busy street) and he made sure they were safely inside at all times. One thing that really impressed me was that he was most always on time, and if he was running late he always called to let us know. He's very conscientious and takes pride in his work. We felt so comfortable that we even gave him the code to our garage door opener so he could gain access if we weren't home. He has subsequently replaced some doors for us, and when our budget allows we look forward to having him install a cork floor in the kitchen and possibly a more extensive remodel.
In addition, my husband was so pleased that he recommended College Hill Construction to a guy he works with, and Michael did a wonderful job for him as well.
