This is at least the third time Mark has cleaned and treated my roof and I have been pleased with the work every time.  On the first visit he installed OSHA-required safety items on the roof but that was a one-time expense because it can be used each time someone goes up there. In addition, they power-washed my deck using some sort of detergent and it came out so beautiful I was astounded.  Had planned to have a new deck built this summer but now I don't need to. I will continue to have Mark care for my roof as long as he's available.

This year everything went well. Last year I paid for the same service but found out that the moss treatment. which I paid for, was not done. I noticed that the there was still moss and they promised to come take a look. That didn't happen. When I mentioned it this year there was no adjustment to the bill. My neighbor had the same experience with them. I recently contacted them to have some debris from a wind storm removed from the roof and got absolutely no response. I will not use them again,
Response from CASCADE SIDING & ROOF RESTORATION
"[Member Name Removed], Very sorry for not remembering to adjust the bill as I'm sure that was irritating. I believe I must have misplaced the message to follow up after the wind storm as we were overwhelmed with calls from people with holes in their roofs and sections of their roofs blown off. Sorry for that as well. I do remember 20 plus good years of making you happy on your roof and deck maintenance projects -including chasing a giant raccoon out your attic when you had a shake roof and it was pouring down and leaking into the house where the shakes had been dug into in 1996... If you change your mind I promise we wont forget the billing issue again and will do all in my power to be more responsive. Mark"

Overall - very well. The cleaning was done on a rainy day as such the application of the moss retardant happened on a separate visit. The roof and gutters look amazing. We have skylights - the moss retardant application did not leave a residue. The staff worked well together; answered my questions/comments quite well; cleaned up the grounds very nicely. Minor negative - the crew showed up when they were available (we had no forewarning). One large fir limb ended up in flower bed but that might have been the only option for those on the roof (about 3 stories to ground).

It was way overpriced but it was prompt. The issues with them besides the fact they are quite expensive are I talked to the owner when they came out to do the estimate and said "so you are gonna scrap all this moss of my roof and then where is it going to go? You are going to clean up below." "He said oh no, it just turns into a powder and disappears." That is not true. When they finished, I had moss and debris around on my driveway and sidewalks afterwards. So, from the professionalism side, tell me what you can really do and they said it would be gone and it wasn't. The second thing that concerned me is that the technician that did this work told me that I was paying to have a roof anchor point put in because part of my house is two story and that he would be tied off when he was working up there. I went outside and looked at him when he went on that side of the house. He had his harness on but he didn't have any line tied on to anything. Which is a huge safety risk. I knew and he knew that he was supposed to be tied off. When he saw me looking at him, he scurried over and went and got a tether and tied it on. From a safety stand point, professionals do things a safe way. They know what the rules are and they follow the rules. That was not professional for him to risk himself by not having a lanyard tied.

Communication was easy. Mark sent contract through fax and his crew showed up to do the work as we arranged.  Roof had 2 years of moss accumulation (with significant tree shading) so demossing was important.  Then, they applied a demossing agent less toxic than many out there.  Cleaned gutters; replaced gutter downspout guards with more effective screens I'd approved.  House was in need of pressure washing as dirt from constant summer winds from the West had not been addressed for five years.   Pressure washing was done really well....no paint lifting and house siding is clean again.  Nearly all debris from roof cleaning was picked up and so I'd say the site was left very clean.  I will hire them again in October for demossing to stay on top of that.  Great job done; we are very happy.

We contacted Mark in December to be the first on his job list this spring.  As you can see, that didn't happen, but considering how busy Mark is, we were happy that it got done as soon as it did, rather than later in the summer as has happened in past years.  We used to have a cedar shake roof, and had Mark service (clean/repair) it for years.  (He is excellent at finding leaks, if that is a problem.)  We replaced that roof with a metal one about ten years ago.  For about the last six years, he has been taking care of our cedar deck, and this year we decided to have him clean and stain our cedar siding also.  I don't know how his price compares to others, because we didn't even get any other estimates.  We have known and used him for many years, and we appreciate and trust that he does a good job.  Besides being very good at his job, he is very friendly and easy to get along with.
We didn't get much notice about when the work was going to be done.  We got home on a Tuesday evening, and there was a message on the answering machine that they were going to start the next morning.  That meant that we had to get up at the crack of dawn to remove all the plants and furniture off the deck so they could start when they arrived.
Like I said, Mark is very good.  His employees on the other hand, are not so intelligent.  I appreciate a contractor keeping a clean job site, and cleaning up when the job is done.  After the workers left when the job was done, I picked up blue painters tape, Marlboro cigarette butts, sanding pad, etc.  I wasn't home the day they stained the deck, but I had put out some drop cloths for them to use.  They didn't cover the plants, but did take the drop cloths with them when they left!  It didn't bother me as much that they sprayed the stain on the plants, which killed the new growth.  What DID bother me was that they also had broken off to the ground about a third of a ten foot rhododendron, and didn't bother to say anything to us.  I discovered they had done that when I was cleaning up after them.
We will continue to use Cascade Siding and Roof Restoration to take care of our deck as long as we have this house.

This is the second time we've used Cascade Siding & Roof Restoration and they've one a really good job for us. They put some special stuff on last year which we didn't have to do this year because our roof was still looking good. We will use them again.

The quality of the work was excellent.  They actually exceeded my expectations given the very rundown nature of my deck finish and the amount of moss and lichen growing on the rails, God bless the damp Willamette Valley weather!  Though there did need to be an adjustment in the initial estimate, this request was entirely reasonable since my deck required extensive sanding in order for it to take on the new stain and finish.  I had made  grave mistake nearly 10 years previous and the only way to actually remove that error was by sanding my entire large deck surface, since the old finish would not come off with a standard stripper and power washing.
The most difficult thing for me was scheduling the removal of an old hot tub from the deck off my master, especially given my location in the Eugene southwest hills, this was not an easy task and ended up going out of town in order to accomplish this.   But once completed Cascade siding and roof Restoration was able to begin work shortly thereafter.  A  number of  boards showed dry rot from where the hot tub had been sitting, and their replacement was included in the final cost.
Following completion of their work,  it is like having an old friend back.  I had many a lovely summer and early autumn day and evening  on the deck,  as well as several parties. The final cost was more than reasonable given the amount of time put into achieve the results.  I only wish I had taken a before and after picture, since I truly believe that no one would believe that they were looking at the same deck.  Hence more of a true resurrection rather than a simple restoration.
I certainly plan to use this same firm for any future deck maintenance needs and  have no reservations in recommending them to others.

The entire staff worked diligently to not only prepare the home for
restoration finish coats, but were also able to artistically match up colors
and surfaces to make the entire large log home cohesive in coloring and
finish. Many kudos to all of them for a great job! I felt that the
entire company cared about a complex restoration job. Plan on hiring these folks again and recommending them to others!
The crew also did a lot of extras to help make things go smoothly and were a pleasure to have on-site. You definitely want this company working for you!

This was more than a roof cleaning, it was also a roof treatment, guaranteed to keep the roof free of moss for 3 years.  Time will tell on that, but the roof was very large  (5000 sq. ft. house) and had not been cleaned for 5 years. This company was recommended by the house cleaner.  I contacted them by phone, and they came out to look at the roof when I wasn't there.  They then sent an estimate via e-mail.  I then had to sign the estimate, and send it back to them by scan.  In this, I was a little disappointed with the lack of personal contact.  But they did set up times for cleaning by phone, and they were only a few hours off from the time they promised.  The workers who did the job were courteous, thorough, and professional, and we were very happy with the job they did.  The debris washed from the roof and gutters were cleaned off of porches and patios.   I would feel very comfortable contacting them in the future.
