Property Appraisal
also told her that I would go out of my way to file every formal complaint possible and pay for an Angie's list membership which I did not have at the time to worn future customer to stay clear of Carl Goschie and Associates of Eugene, Oregon. Every part of Carl Goschie's appraisal is a total disaster and his many blatant errors show that he hurried this mess and that he really didn't care about accuracy as long as he got paid.
Then the final straw came when I received a call a few days later form the newest assigned appraiser to schedule an appointment. He seemed very nice but a red flag came up when he told me that his business name was Parragon Appraisal. I asked him if he worked with or was associated with Carl Goschie. He said that he was not now but was trained by Carl Goschie. I told him about my bad experience with Carl and he said that he understood but assured me that he would do a very extensive and professional job. I told him that I asked him about Carl Goschie because the appraisal that I received from him has PARAGON and a phone number listed at the top of the front page. He was surprised and did not understand why that would be there stating that he was the sole owner of Paragon Appraisal Company and Carl had nothing to do with it. So I confirmed my appointment with Paragon and sent him the information we discussed which was a list of any improvements or changes to my property since the last appraisal and a copy of my most recent appraisal which put the value at $413,000.00. Then several days later on the day before my appraisal appointment I receive a call from a third appraisal company wanting to schedule an appointment. I was shocked so I called Paragon to find out what was going on and they told me that they had cancelled the appointment. I was more than upset and knew that this would delay my refinance transaction with the bank by at least a week. So I called them back and asked for a conversation with the owner. Several hours later he called back and told me that he received the e-mail I sent and went over all the information. Then without telling me he called Carl Goschie, his former mentor and the two of them went over my recent appraisal and Carl evidently told him about my message saying that I was going to file a formal complaint against him and basically told him to cancel the appointment with me or it could happen to him to. Now not only is that totally unprofessional on the part of Mr Goschie and Paragon appraisal company, it is sleazy, a violation of my trust, lacking integrity, it is truly underhanded and should be illegal. The fact that he shared any part of my conversation and/or e-mail with a person that he knew I was upset with is beyond criminal and unprofessional. Its like a good ole boys club and if I dare complain about one then I am going to pay the price by trying to hire one of his "trained" associates.
So now you know that these two appraisal companies while not co owned, will share and compare and if you have a problem or concern with the work of one of them you might be justified in being concerned about the other. When I file my complaint I will share every aspect of what I have written here and hope that this helps future customer make a wise choice. As a side note, Carl Goschie did not call to apologize or make any effort to hear my concerns about his appraisal but he didn't hesitate to take my money or give me a refund.
