Not only were the ideas for other improvements welcome but also Boles came back with their bid promptly and with a very competitive rate.
The work was done professionally, with good communications during the project, and we have been thoroughly pleased with the results. We will certainly look to Boles for future concrete jobs on our property.
The porch looks better than I could have imagined. They made it not only functional, but beautiful, too. I am so impressed with the work done.
They gave their input on what could be done but never tried to talk me into one option or another. The bid was done at a fixed cost and when the soil turned out to be harder than expected, they didn't ask to revise the pricing.
The team doing the work kept the area as clean as possible, and checked with me before doing any work that would disrupt other parts of the property. Once the ground was cleared and they were ready to lay the forms, they checked in with me and discussed one unusual sloping area that would need to be blended with the existing driveway.
The schedule was delayed a little due to some equipment problems, but Jeff let me know how that affected timing and I had space in my schedule, so it wasn't an issue. But I felt that, if it was, Jeff would have worked to find a faster solution.
Overall good people to work with and I'm very happy with the end product. Very much recommended.
"We strive hard to satisfy our customers. If the broken excavator would have prevented us from getting this project done when needed by the homeowner, we would have rented one at our cost. We believe the best way to do business is honesty, clear communication, and exceeding our customers expectations. By doing this, we are confident our business will continue to suceed. It is important to us to do what our bid states, at the price we stated. We don't have "hidden" charges at the end of the project like some of our competitors."
"We strive very hard to take all measures to prevent cracking. We excavate for a proper subgrade of compacted rock. We pour a minimum 3500 psi concrete mix and always use rebar for reinforcing. Our company prides itself on always exceeding industry standards. Todd Boles who I worked for as foreman for ten years before purchasing the company from him 10 years ago, instilled the practices that we still employ today. Even if Todd doesn't own it, we still have the same practices and even some of our original work crew, so things haven't changed, as I was responsible for day to day activities before purchasing the company. We pride ourselves on our reputation and have a great record with the ccb and thousands of happy customers through out Lane County. We are unable to control concrete cracking, we can only take appropriate measures to prevent them. We are very clear with all customers and have an important concrete facts sheet we hand out explaining concrete and the construction process. We also encourage each potential customer to look at completed work examples and talk to former customers to make certain they feel solid about their contractor choice. We didn't want your patio to crack. As said above though, they are hairline cracks that the homeowner didn't see until pointed out by her landscaper. Fortunately they are hairline cracks and will never grow larger, shift, or settle. Without the rebar and proper subgrade, there would be issues over time, but with it done properly, there will be no issues. We do not supply the concrete, we purchase it from Eugene Sand and Gravel. Research also shows that if concrete is going to crack, it generally does soon after the pour while the concrete is curing. It does not continue to crack over time when the job has been properly completed. We have worked with their quality control team and pour a consistent mix that will last over time, as is evident on our thousands of completed jobs. We initially had a very busy schedule when you wanted your other area stained and unfortnately couldn't get to it as soon as you had wanted us to. Then the rainy season came and you were on an extended trip out of town after that when our schedule and dry weather were both ready for you. When you called us after returning home from your trip, we did add you to our schedule but were sincerely booked up and we put you on our schedule with that explanation. We are a small company and try very hard to give personable service and exceed our customers expectations. As time went on and you stated we weren't the "real" Boles Concrete and that you continued to berate my company, I felt it was in both of our best interests to not stain your patio. I felt it would be impossible to please you in a productive way if you were already upset in your choice of hiring us for your patio. Mika, my assistent who you spoke with throughout the process and I also tried to call you, the homeowner in an attempt to remedy this situation, however you apperently have a different phone now. We sincerely want our customers satisfied and that is why we exceed industry standards every step, as well as using good communication. We know in the end, we have given you a beautiful patio that will endure the test of time."
