Alpha Ecological Pest Control

This was service to two small single-family homes next door to each other. Service was done 9/26/14 but I did not receive a printed invoice until today, 11/7/14, despite phone calls to them asking for it. They did not show up for a scheduled followup treatment in October so I had to start again with another provider. This appears to be a west coast company without a local office, so communication with them is difficult at best. You have to call an 800 number which goes who-knows-where. They did not respond to an email I sent to their and quot;Customer Careand quot; manager.

We were due for our regular tri-annual treatment when ants became a problem indoors. I called ahead about the ants and also informed the technician when he arrived. He informed me that they were now using new products that are only effective for two months and we would need to schedule accordingly. That meant $94 x 6 instead of $94x3. I suggested a step up to quarterly and was told this was no longer available. I was offered the special deal of @$79 for the bi monthly plan. When I called the company to question this change, the person I spoke with listened, gave me yes and no responses and was unable to provide any information or guidance on this change. I was told we could continue tri-annually, grandfathered in. When I said we would continue for now but would be checking into other providers and would most likely cancel in the future, there was no comment from the person I was speaking with or follow up.
The ants were completely gone within 2 days. The treatment was effective, but for how long, I wonder.
We have been very satisfied in the 5 years we have used Alpha. We have found them to be professional, service oriented and knowledgable, but question this recent change. Less effective treatment, more often, more costly? This is puzzling.

I thought they were a little high and I wanted to use a local company but I got the feeling that they were a big company that happened to have somebody in my area to represent them; so I did not use them because I wanted to use a local company. The person I got the estimate from on the phone was not in my area but was professional.

They were fine and got the job done after one recall. The customer service was good.
