I contacted Absolute Tree Service based on Angie's List reviews and chose them for the job. It went very well. They  are professional and did a competent job and thorough clean-up. I also only wanted to use a licensed contractor and checked the registered contractor's license and insurance in advance. It all checked out. I highly recommend Absolute Tree Service. I would call them again for future tree service.

The tree had fallen late on a Saturday afternoon blocking my driveway.  They came out within the hour, cleared the driveway and returned on Sunday to complete the job.  Cut up the tree, chipped the branches and hauled it all away.  Swept and cleaned up the area too.  Great job on short notice.

it went real good there the owner and his helper showed up and they did most of the work the first day but came back on sunday and finised it up   (real hard workers)

Janis is very professional and knowledgeable and personable. He did not recommend a service that would have been more expensive but, to his mind, unnecessary; we appreciated that. His assistant, James, did the actual work and we are very pleased.

    Our invoice was from Full Service Tree and Landscape, so maybe the company has changed its name?  This company was our low bid of 4 tree services.  We were extremely happy with the felling of the trees.  The owner, Janis, is extremely skilled.  It was practically like watching an artist at work.  The large tree was 2 feet from a fence and about 15 feet from our garage.  Neither were damaged. Janis did a wonderful job felling the lower 40 feet of the trunk with little damage to our yard. 

    The two men who did the job arrived each time a bit later than they said (one day they called to say they weren't coming, but would come the next day, which they did).  They did, however, work into the evening.

    We were less than satisfied in two ways - length of time the job took and clean-up.  The trunk wasn't completely gone from our yard for over a week.  During that week, there were a couple days when no one came to work (they were doing other jobs).  

    Our second concern was the clean-up.  They did a great job removing and chipping all the limbs.  However, due to the extensive use of chain saws, there were lots of wood chips and fir cones in our yard, along with chunks of bark from the trees.  A fairly large pile of bark was left.  A blower was used for much of the chips, with a fair amount of it being blown into an area of ivy in the yard rather than hauled away.

    Overall, we would recommend this company for their very competitive prices.  Janis did a masterful job limbing and felling the trees.  Their bid made it acceptable for us to do some unexpected clean-up on our own.  We would use this company again, but before work began we would have a clear agreement as to the time length of job and clean-up parameters. 

This is the second time that we have used them and they are wonderful. The two men work well as a team. They have suggestions about trees that they feel they should be taken out which is helpful to me who always wants to save them all. They were more than prompt this time arriving before their established time. They took out huge branches without damaging any other plants on the property and left the property much neater than it was when they arrived. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Yanis was recommended by a friend who needed a large tree removed from the recent ice storm because it was leaning precariously over their house.  They were very impressed that he completed that large job in one long day, I believe over a weekend, and actually had to use flood lights after dark to get the job done.  They were also impressed that even with all that demolition of a huge tree, they left no debris.
I contacted him based on these friend's recommendation when I saw what I thought were dangerous broken branches at my rental unit from that same storm.
Yanis was very responsive connecting with me even though it took several voice mail messages (my fault since I live out of town).  We were also coordinating with my neighbor regarding the branch impacting their fence and yard.  He ended up doing work on trees in both of our yards and providing advice about another tree from the neighbor's yard that was impacting a patio cover on my property.
The neighbor was equally pleased with his work and said he showed up with a utility truck with a bucket that could easily get into the higher elevations of the trees.
Fast, efficient, affordable.  I'd recommend him anytime and in fact will be having him to my own home in another city for work on two of our 100 ft plus Pin Oak trees.  I've never found someone I was comfortable working on those tree before.

Work performed quickly. removal of limbs was complete.  Thoroughly satisfied.

It was good. Their price was good and they showed up on time. I didn’t have to wait very long for them to do the work.

I am revising my review because after Janis came back to remove several stumps and once other professional landscapers came to work, I realized perhaps you really do get what you pay for.

As I said before, Janis was quite agreeable to coordinating with my time availability.  He was professional in calculating what should be done and arrived on time with his crew.  The price was very good.  Again, the clean up crew did very little, and my garden and roof was really a mess. Also, if you need to get the stumps removed after the removal of any trees in your garden, Janis has a large stump remover that can't fit in tight places.  

The entire experience was a good one from bid to finish....

When he trimmed one of our trees he just made it look absolutely beautiful. It was a pretty good price. He is very honest.

Janis gave me the lowest quote on a "Koala Tree" in my backyard.  The work was done promptly and he cut everything up so that I could remove the debris myself, in order to cut costs.

During the snowfall, I had a large cherry tree fall over.  He used a very inventive way to remove it.  Rather than standing in sticker bushes to remove it, he floated it in a creek along side my house.  Including stump removal the whole matter cost $400.  He's very professional and a hardworker. 

He also gave me a good deal on grinding down some stumps in my back yard, since we'd done business in the past.  I'm very impressed with him and his work.

Great, I am sure I will use them again.

Janis gave me the lowest quote of all of the companies from Angie's list; one of the listed companies from Angie's list never came out to give me a bid.  I would definitely use him again.

It went pretty well but we have some comments that may be helpful to others. We were referred to Janis by a coworker who had work done by him several years earlier. Janis returned my call at 8:30 p.m. and insisted on coming to give us the initial bid right then when it was nearly dark! -- I tried to dissuade him but he was intent on coming. So he gave us the bid without being able to see the trees that well. But we liked him and what he had to say about our trees, so decided to give him the job (even though we had a slightly lower bid from another company that rates well on Angie's List -- in retrospect that should have been the tip-off; the other company saw the trees in daylight). On job day he arrived an hour+ late which was not an issue for us (but worth noting if it is to other people). After looking over the job in daylight he realized the fruit trees had begun to bud out more than he realized in the dark so he decided, as he pruned, not to prune very much. That made sense in terms of doing the right thing to the trees but it didn't seem fair to us that he still charged us full price. We didn't challenge the final price but because we feel a bit overcharged we're not sure we'd hire him again (if we do, we'd require the bid during daylight and oversee some other things more carefully). That said, he did a good job with the work and did a wonderful job cleaning up. He also limbed one of our neighbor's large oak trees that overhung power/cable lines. While he removed the limbs they asked him to, for some strange reason he left a smaller limb that slightly overhangs the lines but which they didn't specifically ask him to remove. So our feelings about his work/price is a mixed bag.

Had the company cut down 3 oak trees alongside the house, along with removing the stumps. The estimate of cost was extemely fair, and the work was completed on time, as promised. The owner, Janis Vanags, who also did the work, was courteous, and delivered what he promised. I plan to use this company in the future, for tree care and pruning.

I called 6 people from the Yellow Pages and Angies - Only three provided bids. Janis offered the best presentation, solution and bid. He completed the work safely, quickly and did not damaged the adjacent property.

He came out the day I called to give me an estimate, on a Friday. He underbid the first company I called, and included more trees for less in the estimate. He came back on the day agreed upon (the next Tuesday). They were here working hard when I got home from work. They worked until the trees were cut. We asked them to leave the rounds for firewood. It was our choice. They cleaned all the branches up, and even took out another dead tree that had not been previously discussed. He called it a "bonus" tree. The first company said they would not clean up because they couldn't get the chipper in the backyard. Janis found a way, and did a wonderful job for much less than another company on Angies List.

He is very pleasant. He has his own equipment. He is in and out real quick. He does a great clean up job.

His references helped a lot. He told us he would be at our house between 10:00-11:00 am. I phoned him at 11:25 and he said he was on his way but didn't arrive until 12:00; however, he worked until 8:00 pm. He is a hard worker and has a bucket truck for added convenience and worked with one helper. For the money he saved us, it was worth the little bit of inconvenience for his late start. I would hire him again.

I chose the company because of a recommendation from a friend and offering the lowest bid. I was quite satisfied with the overall look at the completion of the trimming. I telephoned for a quote which I accepted. Within one week, they arrived to do the work.
