Square 1 Electric

The electrician arrived half an hour late, but got right to work. The light fixture to be changed out was 16 feet high, and the ladder the electrician brought was huge! We had to move furniture to get the ladder set up correctly. The actual installation went smoothly, and the new fixture looks great. However the ladder left back marks on the walls. Bonus: The electrician did not mind our dog milling around under the ladder.

Contracted the Co. , spoke to the owner, set up the appt. Everything went smooth, good communication, I was very happy with the service provided.

Kurt was extremely responsive to my initial request for a quote, calling me back the same day, and adjusting his schedule so we could meet the next day. His communication was professional, honest, and considerate in trying to find a way to fit my job into his schedule....while we were discussing the job over the phone he pulled up the exterior of my house on Google Maps so that he could better see what I was trying to do. He also worked with me on a couple different options to try and keep costs within my budget. On the day of the job Kurt showed up to walk his guy (Jared) through the project...this saved me time in not having to communicate what I wanted a second time. Jared, who did the actual work, was professional, accommodating, and worked extremely hard -- given they are paid hourly I appreciated this. Jared did quality work and was very willing to explain what he was doing, even making some improvements to the original plan. I had one issue after the work was done (unrelated to the quality of their work), but Jared came in the next day (on his day off) to troubleshoot and make the adjustment at n/c. Overall very satisfied.

After initial contact, someone was here within 30 minutes to place a bid. I had many different electrical jobs that I had questions about. Everything was answered honestly and correctly. Thery were very knowledgeable about current city regulations, and did not oversell the job. A date was set to do the work the following day. The next Monday, an electrician showed up on time and performed agreed upon work. He also did a couple of small jobs that I have put off for years. I had an appointment that afternoon and was not present when the work was finished. The next day the owner came over for a post work inspection and to collect pay. He also scheduled an inspectiion from the city for the following day, and was passed with no problems. The whole process was made as painless as possible by the company.

Mike did a great and speedy job moving an electrical plug and installing a new electrical panel, the county inspector said he did great work.

No problems. Called on Monday and the technician was here on Tuesday at 8 am and the installation was complete within the hour. He took away the old fan to recycle the parts.

This was an Angie's list special offer. I bought it online and e-mailed the company that I would like to schedule service. I received a telephone call within a few hours and was scheduled for 8 am the next business day. The technician was on time, capable and personable. It was his first "special offer" job and he didn't understand the billing. When I later called the office they revised the bill to be exactly as advertised. I couldn't ask for a better experience and would definitely call them again.

We purchased the "Big Deal" for either a ceiling fan or light fixture installation. We called and left a message immediately when we received the contact information and they called back to set up the appointment within an hour. Our appointment was scheduled for two days later. On the day of the appointment, they called ahead and let us know they were ahead of schedule and could they possibly come a bit earlier. John arrived and set to work on removing the old ceiling fan. I believe that the job took a little longer than expected but John was very friendly and nice. He was even kind enough to take our old fan away and sweep the floor where he was working. Sweeping the little area of floor where he worked was just the icing on the cake. It showed that they really care about providing a great experience from beginning to end. We love our new ceiling fan and we plan to use this company in the future other electrical projects. This company is exceptional and I would recommend them to anyone.

He decided to not go forward with them, not because we didn't like him or felt it was an unfair price we just decided to allocate our resources elsewhere at the time. I think he was very professional and did a great job of explaining. He offered suggestions as far at he installation that I had not thought of, I thought I was a very helpful suggestion. His professionalism and knowledge stood out to me. I thought he was very good and helpful. He had our interest in mind. I would tell others he's very experienced, professional and offers helpful suggestions on how to handle your situation, even suggestions that can save you money.

I called Square One as soon as I bought the service and on the very next business day, they called me and got me scheduled for the next day. It was a nice surprise when John, the electrician, called me and said he got finished with his job early and wanted to see if we wanted to get the fan done earlier. He came right over. He identified a problem with the outlet that the fan was going to run off and instead of grumbling about it or making it a seem more than what it was, he diagnosed it, told me what was wrong and how he was going to fix it at no extra expense. This kind of can-do attitude is so rare these days. After having gone through a complete, down to the stud's remodel, I can say with authority that John had a great attitude, got the job done quickly, cleaned up after himself, was careful of the furniture and finishes and was just overall a true professional and a pleasant personality was a bonus. Square One made everything very simple and easy, right down to getting on the books and getting it done.

For the most part, the crew was professional and the work was of high quality. Where there were problems (for example, an oversized "pilot hole" in the bathroom wall), Square One made it right (in this case, they paid for drywall repair).

Mike arrived at the scheduled time. The job to be done was shown to him. He performed the work in an organized and competent manner. As noted above there was a significant problem which he was able to solve. I was very glad I called a skilled electrician and didn't try and do the job myself.

The quote was the one that fit best with the existing circuits, leaving a tidier result than the other proposals. Installation was quick and well done.Some minor collateral damage. Followup with the ciiy took a while, was sveral weeks before permits approved. Permit approved with homeowner fix required but it was minor.

They have done the work, but there is some detailing work left before the final inspection is done. They have done their part. The job cost me about $3000. They did a lot of work. They showed up on time and they worked within my budget. They were highly responsive. Everytime I called with questions, they answered them immediately. They cleaned up after themselves. They did excellent work; they were outstanding. I was very happy with them. I will use them again in the future.

They actually charged us more than the bid because they had to use two guys instead of one so we understood. I think they felt bad so they gave us money back, which was nice. They thought they overcharged us so they gave us a check for $420. They were on time. Everyone that ever works on our house goes insane because it is so Victorian but they kept their cool. It was a really tough area to maneuver in and there was nowhere to walk so they had to walk on the rafters. They were fine. I think the original bid was $2,300 so they ended up giving money back, which they didn't have to do. They were great. The price was reasonable.

Arrived right on time, very courteous and professional. Found that all my cans were OK, the lights were burned out or simply not in correctly. My bad! But it's an honest contractor that didn't take advantage of my ignorance and charge me for a repair that wasn't needed. Very much appreciated that!

Even though John had to deal with my two neighbors following him around photographing everything he did so they could keep us up-to-date while we sat in the hospital waiting room, both of the neighbors commented afterwards that he was awesome. After the surprise electrical short, I thought I would never be able to sleep again in my house without worrying about an electrical fire. Last Friday, just 6 days ago, the house across from us had nearly burned down as we watched-- so I am particularly sensitive to fire issues at the moment. Both my neighbors-- an engineer and a techie-- raved about the care John showed, so much so that I actually think I may be able to stop worrying and sleep tonight. I had never worked with Square One before but they rearranged their schedule to help me, a complete stranger. I simply can't imagine a company that is more dedicated, speedy, and competent. If they work this well in an emergency, imagine what they could do if you made an appointment? I have never written an Angie's List recommendation before because I simply don't have the time but I plan to saturate the internet with recommendations and comments lauding Square One because I feel so passionately about what they did for our family today. They more than deserve your business-- and won't it be comforting to know that if you do ever have an electrical problem, you've got a company like Square One willing to drop what they're doing and come and help you? I also have to thank Angie's List. I gambled that any company that could make the #1 spot on Angie's List, would be so incredibly amazing, that they would help me not matter what. Square One was my first and only call. That tells you something about the accuracy of Angie's List. So my son has his twins, I have my lights back on, and my electrical short is all fixed. Unfortunately, the twins already had names or I would have suggested the first twin be Square One and the second Angie List. In all seriousness, please accept our family's heartfelt thanks to both companies for giving our disaster a happy ending.

He worked steadily and was very polite and professional. He was a little late but called first so that was okay with us.

Kurt was very responsive when we first inquired with his company. He had to travel to another city for the first job of moving the electrical panel, which he did the next day after we talked. He also came by the same day to look at the panel they had to replace. Once we decided to hire Kurt, he had the first job scheduled the first week and the second job done not long after that. The price was very reasonable and his crew was responsive. Both jobs passed inspection the first time, with one minor correction. We were happy with their work and would hire them again.

Everyone from Square 1 was responsive and courteous. The electrician doing the actual work was spot on when it came to installing the new wiring we required, but was a little shaky when it came to meeting up new wiring with our old grid. Instead of messing around or delaying the job, he immediately consulted a more experienced co-worker to make sure the job got done right and on time. I don't expect every contractor to know everything all the time: I appreciate it when someone knows to ask for help and does so, as opposed to putting on airs and risking an electrical fire down the road. I cannot recall - ever - a contractor that was so dedicated to the quality of their work but even more so to customer satisfaction. I usually triple bid all my home repair and contracting jobs but the next time I have electrical to be done, I'll be going straight to Square 1.

Called Kurt and he agreed to send an electrician to perform the work on a time and materials basis that I'd estimated to take about a day. Jared showed up on time and got straight to work removing the old baseboard heaters. When the HVAC crew that I had also hired had removed the old AC units he went on to route conduit and install the A/C disconnects on the outside walls. While he was there I discovered that the previously installed electric fire was not up to code and he agreed to redo all the wiring for it as well, turning an unsightly mess into a true professional looking job. Jared worked non stop from 8am until the jobs were all done, I was most impressed.

Was 10 minutes late and apologized for it! Called before he came to confirm. Listened and explained very clearly to us the issues involved with problem solving. Cleaned up after himself including vacumming!

I obtained four bids and with the Angies List $50 coupon Square One was the most competitive in pricing. Kurt provided the estimate and made suggestions that I had not considered that resulted in a much better outcome on my remodel. The electricians were punctual and worked quickly and efficiently on the rough in. They were finished in about half a day and cleaned the worksite prior to leaving. After the cabinet install they were back within two days after I called to finish the job. Kurt knew I had a deadline to meet and he personally came out to do the finish work because the other electricians were busy on other jobs. Finish work was completed in 1/2 day including installation of the built in dishwasher and microwave. The City electrical inspectors were impressed with the work and the job easily passed inspection with no rework required. There is nothing fun about a kitchen remodel but Square One was very helpful in making the project stay on time and on budget.
