It’s substantially less expensive to reglaze a tub than to replace it. The average cost of reglazing a bathtub is between $400 and $700, but that range may be higher based on where you live and the type of tub you have. It is possible to install a two-in-one unit that has both a shower and a walk-in tub so you can still have both in smaller bathrooms or provide a showerhead for those in the household who prefer taking showers. You’ll hear these referred to as walk-in tub and shower combo units. Keep in mind that these combo units can take up more space than a standard shower or tub, and you’ll most likely need to hire a pro to install one.

The diverter valve in your bathtub is responsible for diverting water between your tub spout and your shower head. If water comes out of both at the same time, you have a faulty diverter valve. You can have a plumber replace this for you, or you can replace it yourself if you have some experience working with plumbing fixtures.
